Cassidyfal 758 Posted July 10, 2019 Share Posted July 10, 2019 Modern K Pop (the new pop stuff), I think I can understand why people like it for its upbeat and trendy style, however, I think it is a little brainwashing in a way. This can be for K pop and/or any other North American "bands" (groups of people *cough cough, groups of the same gender*). Typically if its a group in which doesn't involve the members each bringing their own role, like a instrument or composition role, and instead many singers are grouped together to appear as a group of friends, then it is usually all under control and selected by someone. I highly doubt most of those people write their own music (using ghost writers) and are assigned lyrics and parts to sing, dance and talk. It appears more like a product sometimes and I find it kinda scary how people idolize that and crave to be like that. I mean, if they're in it for the music then do it of course, but music is precious and it's odd to see it used as a post to lean on, in a way. That's just Blackpink. Maybe try listening to people like BTOB, Shinee, and Day6. While I disagree that it's embarrassing...I can only suggest either dig deeper or just forget about kpop. The majority of US pop also uses repetition and meaningless/heavily sexualized lyrics in their chorus. If you're going to deny this you're being bias. There are so many kpop songs with meaningful and empowering lyrics but y'all really want to generalize huh? I never said anything about BLACKPINK being the total genre of k-pop, but they are the most pressing example of something massive right now that's senseless. Oh and I have nothing against sexualized music. Sex is way too taboo in music and fits just perfectly fine. That little dreams come true oh my love is so great for you 12-year old love song **** they can also keep. These probably not even adult yet asian girls don't know anything about what they're singing about, and they are ridiculously milked. On another note, they are getting the american style beat production down though. Still looks like a little circus act in my eyes. Deal with my opinion, k-pop stan.
