Bunch of articles disparaging Janet's performance today...

Of course none of this should actually be surprising.  Janet Madonna and Paula are the 'godmothers' of lipsyncing live shows (or singing to a pre-recorded track) in modern-day pop.

That doesn't mean they aren't some of the best and most influential performers of the last 30 years; but be real, they obviously did this a lot at their peaks too (and this can easily be looked up)

Like I said, they are still some of the best, most influential performers of the last three decades but they obviously helped to usher in widespread 'miming' at live shows.

(I won't say in general because American Bandstand, Soul Train etc... were heavily lip-synced performing too.)

It’s not the 80s anymore, today’s audience don’t **** with lip syncing, specially in the UK.

I always think, even if you don't want to/can't sing live, couldn't you at least make a slightly different vocal track to play at a normal volume?

Artists who are on this level of lazy simply amaze me, with all the resources they have at their fingertips

I love when people act shocked some artists have no talent, as if they didn't have 30 years to realize it.

bloody g

You guys can keep making fun of Ava Max, Meghan Trainor, etc and praising these old girls all you want but at the end of the day, a music festival requires singers, not half assed dancers. Even Selena could have whispered through it.

That's not how I'd characterize it.  They have talent.  Maybe less musical talent.  But they have talent.  And these things are a trend.  People are desperate to find 'scapegoats'.

But there were plenty of  overproduced and overprocessed. music hits of the  '80's disco hits of the '70's before that.

These have been industry wide practices for decades and the music industry, just like virtually every other other industry, found trends to recycle.

But people want to find scapegoats (like Britney) even though these attributes are a culmination of industry-wide practices.

poor Janet. I seen her during her up close and personal tour, and she was definitely not singing live when I seen her... this doesn't surprise me one bit!!!

Janet's concerts are awesome.

She dances her arse off, she does sing live but she does also mix it with play back. And pre-recorded vocals but not like the Glastonbury people are making it seem.

She actually sings well and does acoustic sections sometimes too.

Check some Metamorphosis vids she puts on a great show.
