Gaga probably denied it because of the same reason she turned down Frank-n-Furter, she doesn’t fit it and they’re only asking her Bc of her close ties

A break through in what sense? She’s already a 2 time Oscar nominee & obviously a household name.

A breakthrough in the sense of being perceived as more than a comedy actress, that's what I meant (apparently many people still think of her as a comedy actress and nothing more, and this movie could give her the status of a full-house actress. If they go for a serious route)

They’ve already ruined my most fave Disney movie that deserved a reboot with just one casting :messga:

But she's a comedian. Isn't that going to make the character a bit funny? Anyway, I'm glad it's not Gaga because she was definitely going to make it slutty :smh:

If this role were to go to Gaga, I imagined she’d just play Ursula in her human form.

And with this casting news, I doubt Melissa will be playing Ursula in human form.

She was literally nominated at The Oscars alongside Gaga for a dramatic role...

That just means Gaga now has the time to play Lady Lylla :hor:

I want her to actually act and not just voice acting :laughga: (I know she is supposed to the movements aswell but it’s not the same thing)

Oh, I'd take her acting over voice work any day, I just think that realistically, it just makes sense for her to do a role like this. As much as I'd want her to play a role like Emma Frost or something, she's not going to take that kind of MCU role.

Worst casting decision since Will Smith's Genie. There's nothing campy or theatrical about Melissa.

Another remake butchered by Disney. They better not screw up Lion King

Disappointing. I love Melissa but I seriously doubt she can inject the necessary sense of danger and vicious eroticism into that part. I could be wrong of course, and I hope I am.

I don't know, I was ready for some rather unknown actress to do this  Why always give these important role to huge celebs? Where's the sense of surprise and intrigue?

These remakes are getting obnoxious. Literally not a single one of them has been good.
