They are allowed to feel this way. They were there on that terrible evening. It must have haunts them everyday now. Not to mention survivors guilts that caused by it. Nobody should ever deny their feelings or opinion about GC MV, or worse, justify what Madonna do just because you're stanning and see the MV as art piece or whatever.

Of course they are allowed to feel that way! Absolutely! I have had some challenging experiences in my past including being raped and having a close friend commit suicide, and so I am not comfortable watching any movies or anything that have to do with suicide or sexual assault, it makes my anxiety go through the roof.

At the same time, I don't think that no art should comment on suicide or sexual assault, in fact I think that art SHOULD be talking about these things. I just don't personally need to see it. And thats what I think about folks who don't want to see the GC music video, I understand you, don't watch it! But to dismiss a piece of art because the subject matter makes you feel something, I think that is short sighted and wrong.

WE SHOULD be talking about gun violence, but “shooting up” models or actors in a studio in NYC or LA — I think that’s fundamentally wrong.

Why don't you hate Gaga for "raping" actors in TIHTY video?

Something about Madonna seems to attract the most stubborn, dismissive and emotionless supporters. Good for her, I guess.

I agree, it was a little.. weirdly executed..... a little glamorizing for sure. Good to make the statement, bring more awareness, warning and editing was good, but idk, it's a little.. weird! sheds a tear at the end, all beautiful and airbrushed

It's about intention. This isn't some lame pop song she slapped an unrelated video to. This was an artistic and political statement of a woman who does care, obviously, she's one of the only pop stars around who's never stopped being political even when people were begging her to shut up :air:

Also, why would she ask for permission from survivors? :toofunny: Like, not to be mean, but what if some of them said no, you can't make the mv? You think Madonna would listen? Nope. No point.

I get that it can be traumatic for survivors and that they might even be better off not watching it. But does that mean others can't use that video to stop people from getting traumatized in the future? To spread awareness? To take political action? There's far more positive incentives here.

Regardless, it's more respectful to do SOMETHING helpful. This kind of artistic statement only benefits her imo.
If she's gonna be profiting from this, she should give lots of funds to the survivors and victims' families.

And also... just. do. more. She was revolutionary decades ago. Now is the perfect time to fight for lgbtq causes again in America, and globally.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

What an utterly absurd topic. Are you guys kidding me?! Thank god for Madonna is all I have to say. And thx to @Didymus for trying to talk reason.

nonsense... at this point, Madonna is not making any profit from the songs, the video etc... there is literally zero profit from the video for her

Some people will have a problem with whatever Madonna does, literally :wtf:

I do understand that the survivors and families of the victim may feel uncomfortable watching it, but trying to discredit the message and motive behind this video is simply ridiculous.

I’m sorry, but Madonna has ALWAYS been extremely political. Nowadays you’re expected to hold these views against gun control, against homophobia, against sexism. But Madonna has been very vocal about this topics since the 80s, when it was often a career killer.

Her goal is to shed light and bring more awareness to this heavy handed topic. Like she’s been doing for the entirety of her career. Pulse is not the only shooting to have occurred, and if the club from the video was inspired by Pulse, she didn’t need to reach out to them at all.

Her intentions are more than clear, she’s never supported a certain political stance just to seem “woke” and boost her career. She’s been doing this since before it was considered “woke” and “cool”.

So if I survived a car accident I should say **** about Gaga's John Wayne video? This is not how art works.

Don't wanna kiss, don't wanna touch, just drink my ****ing coffee and watch 90's cartoons and hush
