Yes, I also think he seems to have suddenly started spouting problematic weird quips in the last few years... if it's not because of another organization influencing him, it could also have been a minor stroke. People have personality changes after strokes sometimes. You don't have to agree with him, but you are expected to respect him because in the face of the hostile take over of his country, the slaughter of over a million of his people, the destruction of his culture, and erasure of his religion, he held stead fast in his belief in a non-violent resistance. His words have value if for no other reason that when he dies he will likely be the last Dalai Lama from a chain of Dalai Lama's dating back to the 13th century. His death will not just be the death of a single man, but the death of a culture.
