The entire world population can fit in Texas I believe it was...

 

It looks over populated because 

 

#1 we super concentrate in cities (not necessarily a bad thing tho cause then we destroy less land)

 

#2 we consume too many resources per capita and don't recycle enough

 

Also we produce enough food for everyone on earth but it's poorly divided. In developed nations for example nearly 50% of food ends up in garbage

 

The world isn't over populated. Its perfectly capable of handling 7 billion people or more

 

The issue is we do things that damage it. But with our behaviour even of population was cut in half we'd still be destroying the environment

 

The issue is our actions not our population

 

Most of the worlds population is in developing or 3rd world nations but the developed world that has a little over 1 Billion people are responsible for most of the resource consumption and pollution

6 out of the 7 billion ppl on earth don't consume enough to damage the earth in a meaningful way.

 

On a per capita basis... North America, Europe, Japan, Australia and NZ are the problem

This is bad news because we need babies now to balance the population and to offset the decline of the babyboomers.  

Right now, baby boomers are the most numerous age group in the US. Either we need more babies or we let more immigrants in. By mid century, the 76 million baby boomers we have now will go down to 16 million.

The country needs to be populated to run. Look at Japan. Because of their low birth rates and dislikes of immigration, their population is decreasing and strongly shifting to more older people than younger people. They try to offset this by hiring migrant workers (who finds it difficult to become a permanent resident in the country) and improving their manufacturing industry by replacing humans with robots.

Immigration quotas haven't changed so the influx of new citizens stayed the same..
