Economy 49,372
https://kworb.net/pop/ Still blocked by old town road but I think Katy may be looking at her first moderate to decent sized hit since Chained To The Rythem! Also it's only #66 on radio so far but went up 4M AI. Even without roll back effect that's not terrible for a new song It's #14 on Spotify WW and #11 in US

I feel like kids in middle school now think she has never been that big and they have no idea she is the only female ever to have 5 #1s off a single album (6 #1s + a #2 if you count the extended release) Literally if this song were released in 2011 it would have debuted at #1 or #2. No questions asked. I think this also goes to show Gaga's career has balanced out quite nicely. While Kesha, Katy, and Miley had really heavy beginnings their careers have completely drifted off into irrelevance outside of gays and some fans that still cling on. Gaga on the other hand has remained big amongst the GP while also maintaining a hardcore fanbase and every era more "casual fans". I think if any of the three aforementioned artist's can maybe get back to a better place again (scoring the occasional Top 10 hit that gets radio play), its gonna be Katy. Simply because of those 3 she has the catchiest sellable music, the most number ones already, and she has a huge presence on a very big mainstrean show to promote her stuff on. Will she have another Teenage Dream? Hello no. But she can be a JLo level kinda musician without the acting.

Gaga happened differently I'd say Gaga's first peak was actually shorter than Katy Perry's. Katy Perry had a longer run of hits and big popularity while Gaga was only big for 3 maybe 4 years But the difference is Gaga is experiencing a second peak and started climbing back up since 2017 Katy had 1 longer peak but is totally failing to get another rise

But I also think that Gaga's first peak was insanely quick and bigger than everyone's. I mean...if her team had been as smart as Katy's or Rhianna's at timing single and video releases, Gaga would have 15 #1s by now. I still find it absolutely insane that LoveGame, Paparazzi, BR, Telephone, TEOG, Scheibe, Applause, DWUW, even potentially Gypsy were not chart toppers. FfFfFfFF 55,359
She is exceeding my expectations actually. This is her best performing song since CTTR, very likely that will become a moderate hit.

Levine 23,546
And we needed a thread for this? Economy I actually love you, but really? Congrats to her for peaking at #2 on iTunes, the same platform where Gaga, Kesha, Kelly Clarkson, Taylor, Adele, Beyoncé, Rihanna and many others reach easly the #1 spot. Gaga's peak overall was definitely bigger than Katie's but it was more condensed Katie's popularity lasted a bit longer But yeah Gaga has this talent and diversity to make come backs whereas as Katy im not as confident in her ability to do that Look at Cher. Her career was so inconsistent like a rollercoaster. She seemed to disappear and die off for good so many times and she managed to comeback everytime! Gaga has that kind of ability as well in my opinion

Fair enough, I thought you were accusing Economy of being shady towards Katy. I guess you meant that #2 on iTunes isn't a significant enough news to be reported on GGD? If that's the case then it's Katy Perry we're talking about, so I guess we want to see her succeed now.
