My analysis of 365/Never Really Over

So I've been thinking about Katy's two latest singles (besides Con Calma which is a remix/feature).
There are absolutely parrallels between both songs. The faced-paced speech of the chorus, the ticking clock closing out both tracks. A theme of time ("You make a weekend feel like a year" "Two years, and just like that") is also prevalent, but the songs oppose-or, rather, compliment one another.
365 is sonically bleak, the instrumentation is quite dull, very 'grey cement', if that makes sense. The video features that, too. A dystopian, black mirror-esque story.
Never Really Over is a fun, summery interpretation of the same trop-house trend of the late 2010s.
The lyrics of each song, however, are a cler contrast to the production of each respective single.
365 is about wanting be with someone for the rest of your life. Loving someone so much, that you never want them to leave.
Never Really Over is about a tragic parting. It's essentially saying 'I love you, and I want us to be together. We could be perfect and happy, but for whatever reason, we can't be together. And until the day I die, I will never stop thinking about you, and how much I wish we could be together.'
The cover art on both tracks also corresponds with the other. 365's leading colour is blue, whereas NRO's is orange. As we know, orange and blue are complimentary colours, opposite of one another on the colour wheel.
My point is that I believe that 365 and NRO are two sides of the same coin, and if Katy is in fact planning to keep NRO a standalone single, it may be a response to 365.

***Con Calma :derpga:

The song is good, it's like a passive Swish Swish :lolga:

I think it is more a way in which she expresses that she will never fail (Witness era) or something similar.

Katy would be crazy to not make this her lead single. The reception is so positive and she may not get that again with the next single.

One huge difference is 365 doesn't have the anthemic chorus of NRO. It has the fast bit but for me the best part of NRO is the chorus before the drop. It reminds me of Firework with the power in her voice. I hope she has more of that on the album.
