Madonna stans in a nutshell:

Dont like the performance? Youre ageist

Dont like her voice? Ageism

Wanted something better? Ageism

:sharon:

I think that’s quite a big generalisation.

I have seen maybe one comment in this all thread mentioning her age. I did my own critique of the performance a few pages back and I never mentioned her age.

Some fans, like in all fanbases, look for excuses when things don’t work out. The exact same thing happens with Gaga, when something doesn’t go well, and fans normally use her health to justify whatever didn’t work.

It’s just the way stan culture works, and your critique can be applied to any fanbase, not only Madonna stans.

Nicely said and I know you are a big M fan. I adore Madonna....I feel not only disappointed for me, but for her.

I've never been a huge fan of Madonna and truth be told the performance did sound bad vocal-wise, but she's Madonna and we never liked her because of her "outstanding vocal abilities"  we stan her because she comes an entire package; voice, performance, dance, artistry... etc! So give her a break y'all. The performance meant a lot more than just a song she's been singing since 1989.

And regarding her political message, it's admiral, it's not actual, and it does absolutely nothing but it's admirable.

Haven't seen the performance, but the instrumental on Future is really rad. I actually don't dislike the song all that much; I think it sort of works. It's not amazing or anything, but I think it works just fine and I didn't even mind Quavo on there, surprise surprise lol

Rightfully being dragged. She gets paid over a million to perform, then goes on to show that she really can't sing for **** (never could), performs the cringiest second song ever, and to top it off she feels cocky enough to make some political statement which was not agreed on.

She basically bombed her career and her album to ashes. Madame X ain't going anywhere but on her typical tour.

Eurovision should get the money back.

Shes always getting dragged, another day another madonna controversy. She could dress up like it's the 80s still and just give us into the groove and holiday, wear all pastels and have zero point of view, and maybe people would give her a break. But she is an artist, a challenging one with a lot to say. Her live vocals have always been pitchy, the overblown reaction she is getting for a couple off key moments is just insane. Her message was beautiful and thought provoking and next level. No she doesnt care about the rules of sacred cheese fest Eurovision, she has more important things to do.

Of course, this is the busiest thread. This is like Golden Corral Special Hour here at GGD.

I actually think her staging was great and the performance wasn't bad. But Like A Prayer had weakened vocals and was very tentative, like she just didn't have that singing power or energy anymore. And Future was not the best track to have picked, especially with that autotune on the mic which is a bad effect on anyone. Let's face it, her days of dancing energetically are behind her. But she's 60 now, there's no shame in it. To anyone who was expecting more than this at her age needs to wake up to reality. I'd rather she gave quality music over quality live performances by this point.

There was a serious balance problem or a stupid reverb cause it seemed to me her voice sounded far away.
