Then I check out his social media and see that he is very stylish, very funny, and doesn't take being a rapper too seriously. Now I learn that he is an avid pop stan AND most likely LGBT? The longer he hides his secret, the harder it will be to come out later in his career. Being in the closet already takes a huge toll on mental health and now imagine if he manages to become an A lister like Cardi with his album release, he'll have to be even more careful out there. Imagine dating a celebrity who is in the closet and whose career is a 100% dependent on staying there. I can kind of understand his desire for money and fame but at what price? I think it’s because barbz are mad that he’s “dissing” Nicki by not owning up to being a fan of hers. Also apparently he slandered Taylor on that old account or something. Moreover, he's work is definitely made to pander to two notoriously homophobic demographics: country and hip-hop. Think of how much that would change perceptions of gay people, rappers, and country fans. It would be huge. Definitely risky but the cultural impact would be gigantic. Sure it is safer to pretend you conform, but true legends court controversy and understand that polarizing people makes you an icon, and getting people behind you who feel like society has rejected them leads to a hardcore, loyal fanbase. Maybe a little push to do it isn’t bad but being around closeted people made me learn that the whole “expose” thing the gays do for attention just leads to bad things. It’s lame in my opinion.
