super-hero movies have stopped being the events they used to be

Uhm yahh the most highly anticipated film release of recent memory grossing over a billion dollars in one weekend clearly isn't eventful enough :huntyga:

I won't repeat what I've already said 3 times in this thread, so you guys can stop quoting me if you're not willing to follow what has been said before.

The thread is literally about this one film being a huge pop culture event and you're saying yahh but not all 22 of those movies are memorable. We're talking about Endgame and how special it is, I don't see why you have to hate on the rest of the franchise, all 22 of those films lead to where we are now.

Some are better than others but they were all stepping stones laying the foundation for the cinematic phenomenon we're getting to experiencing now. Endgame literally wouldn't  be the film it is without all those other films and that's what makes it unique. It pays off to be a fan, the build up, the intricate world-building and the journey we've taken with multiple characters for 11 years all lead to this point. You can not be into it and that's okay but there's no need to come into a thread and bash it.

If anything the success of the MCU is pushing other studios to become more attuned with what audiences and fans crave, forcing them to come up with more creative and heartfelt ways to tell stories. Kevin Feige is a huge fan of the source material, he gets comics and that's why it all works. He's transposing the comic reading experience onto the big-screen and taking it in directions and expansions comic book fans have always wanted and that's why it's massively successful.  Sony's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is an amazing example of non-MCU super-hero film that in this new climate of fan-centric film making pushed boundaries artistically and story-telling wise to bring characters to life that fans could have only dreamt about before. We are in the era of fan-service now and I love it.

(The Unbeatable Squirrel Girl for Phase 5, make it happen Feige!!)

I don't believe I came into this thread to bash the movie or Marvel in general, I saw more than half of those movies, including Endgame, and I wouldn't have if I completely hated them. I also repeatedly rejoiced about this success, which is an undeniable feat at film #22. But I have my reservations about those and about what it says of our current cultural landscape, and it is my right to express these reservations. I did expect to receive some heat for not expressing blind adoration, and I accept this criticism - however, can you guys accept some criticism is the real question.

It is indeed a vicious circle - the more people will pay to see the same old ****, the more studios will be eager to serve this again and again.

And it doesn't mean people aren't interested in original content, just look at streaming services like Netflix.

But there’s less “risk” on streaming than theaters. You pay a flat rate for unlimited access (mostly) so people don’t see as big a problem in taking a time risk on something new. But theaters cost you $10 absolute minimum (though usually much higher) each time you go so people are less willing to take a risk in theaters. That is the beauty of a streaming model, for sure. People always are down for new, great content, but I think potential for lost time and money trumps that desire.

I didn't elaborate in my post but yeah, that's exactly what's happening.

They are only the same in the sense that they all have superheroes against super villains. But each character is different and each character has its own unique story.

Fair enough.

Still not enough to make it interested though.

Hence the point of voice acting....

Also....

Maybe because all 22 films are very different from each other? Have you even watched them?

Also, Hollywood produces tons of new material every year. Why do you think there's such a bloom in women making new series and film these days? New stuff is coming out literally every week and yet all the people who complain never go watch.

Nah, people just aren't watching.

I wish that marvel used the reality stone to turn Rocket Racoon into a human being portrayed by Bradley Cooper. Such a missed opportunity for then. Even for a bfried moment in the film. Imaginr Bradley Cooper acting all crazy like Rocket Racoon.

I've never pretended to express anything else than my own opinion. Also, if the best movies were the ones racking up billions at the box office, that would be news to me.

Literally nobody said that

I already got the plot spoiled :huntyga:  :neyde: . Also I'm not into cinema. I wait for the VoD and Blu-Ray release :lana: .

And :golfclap: for that, Marvel (and associates :vegas: )

We just want to celebrate and ask you to stop being jerks by raining on our parade. :gayhat:
