It may be illegal, but music labels know how to still convince radio stations and streaming services to play and promote their artists' records more than others.

It may not be the traditional way of payola, but it's still a manipulation of the system.

It's not manipulation, it's business. No radio station would play a song if they don't want to. They are only doing deals like that when they know the demand is huge and they will benefit from it.

I hear it on Radio often but I choose to repeat it from my spotify and Apple Music instead  cos she needs the streaming points:vegas:

And that's exactly why it's a new form of payola. They invest in their most successful artists, so their music is played and promoted way more than others people's. It's not a fair business for new artists. It forces people to consume exactly what the label wants.

That's why radio stations don't play some artists, even if the public is asking for their music.

Meanwhile, Shallow still there on that #5 spot on iTunes... I mean, isn't this like the biggest Gaga song of all time by now?

I mean business always involves some form of advertising and trying to sell a product that's any business and the music business is no exeption

I wouldn't call that payola tho for trying to out special emphasis in their best selling artists

Now paying for streams, radio spins etc that's the illegal stuff that's called payola

Why is anyone surprised?

This is a huge song that will smash in summer.

Taylor knows what’s she’s doing, as always.

Jeez the first page alone in this thread is so hostile. Its so hypocritical because the ones always championing around “We cant pit women against each other blah blah blah” are literally trashing Taylor for no reason.

Was this her best song ever ? No. Is this her deepest song ever? No. But that doesn’t make it not good.

Its just a fun feel good pop song. Sometimes we need that more than anything. And its obviously showing that by how many people are listening and buying it. People try to be so “woke” these days. We need this song because its simple and fun

"My name is Dita, I'll be your Mistress tonight..."

It’s such a fun song. It’s not that deep, if you don’t like it, don’t listen to it.

I hate the logic of “she just released an album not too long ago” too. So did Ariana, yet the GP ate it up.

Max

it didn't enter the Austrian Charts as I see, for now... and that's good because the GP will eat it up here...and I can't wait to hear it 9 times a day :messga:
