I hope that the art and history of this building won't be tarnished by this fire.

And I hate to be this person, but I really wish people would get this frustrated and angry about the chain of black churches that have gone up in flames in the past few years. Ironically, the Trump admin shows their true skin once again.

Its already burned. All that remains is the exterior stone walls. Religion aside this is a piece of world history that lives in the hearts of many people around the globe. This is the burning of the work of artists and innovators of the world and of a building that offered asylum to many regardless of race or religion.

I'm shocked.

It took over 200 years to build, can you imagine that? And it stood for 850 years, it's really really sad.

I'm sorry, but what happened to those churches is nothing compared to this.

This is a building from the 11th century. The largest cathedral in france.

One of the most iconic buildings on the planet. A symbol of a country.

What happened in Louisiana was tragic but it isn't a tragedy to the scale of what is happening here and by pursuing that narrative you are playing in the hands of trump suuporters that say that people on the left spin things to their advantage

Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.

It's sad :( A landmark that took so long to build is being destroyed within hours. Very sad

It's not a narrative. It's a fact.

It's a building at the end of the day. It's horrible. But I had to say that many people are trying to speak out about.

The reporting on this is really shoddy. It’s hard to find recent updates on how well the fire is being contained.

I'm in front of the cathedral right now and it's horrible...

Many people are crying and everybody is shocked... There is a lot of firemen and policemen.

We've lost a part of our French history tonight. :S

But hopefully, many pieces of art have been evacuated of the building.

The whole building gone... this is so upsetting. I was hoping to go to Paris soon and see this. A huge piece of world heritage lost.

I'm an ARTPOP bitch, baby

It might be just wishful thinking, but I don't see why the whole building would tumble down?
