I guess so many people in Paris are so desperate to help but can't. When you live close to something, you don't visit them because it doesn't seem special. Like the tulip fields in the Netherlands. I never went to see them. Enough so that it doesn't collapse, they’re confident. Though, one firefighter may have been injured, hoping it’s not as serious and that they are taking care of that. Heroes, all of them. About reconstruction, the French have historically been adamant about preserving historic and cultural architecture. That’s why modern infrastructure are strictly not allowed in certain areas of the city, even wheelchair ramps. I see no possible outcome to this that doesn't involve rebuilding the entire cathedral. Though, not the same as even the most humble piece of construction material in the cathedral has an historical value in itself. And a lot of people won’t be able to see it in their life-time as it will take a lot of time to reconstruct. Some people might not get it primarily because they have no regard for history and culture but this is not just a building, it’s older than one of biggest countries on the planet and its cultural importance and symbolic presence is not unique to practicing Catholics. According to a spokesperson for the Cathedral, some of the artwork had already been removed prior to the renovations, while most of the sacred relics were held in its sacristry, which was unlikely to be damaged by the fire.
