The argument can go in circles, and as I have stated, neither is more or less tragic. That is your opinion, and I respectfully disagree. Wish you well and hope you and your country can heal from this. Notre Dame and much of the Catholic presence in Paris is a symbol of resistance to evil - most recently the actual Nazi occupation of Paris with Hitler himself parading around in front of Notre Dame and the occupied French people. Through the brutality and murder, this church and others like it represented hope and salvation from evil. It really can't go in circles. It's just flat out wrong to diminish this. 86-OUT

illusionism 73
I saw a post confirming that the Holy Sacraments, including Christs crown of thorns (which I believe to be the piece that is rumoured to include actual wood from Christs cross) and other biblical manuscripts and artworks were smuggled out by some huntys before they were lost to the flames All is not lost! 86-OUT

The spire is indeed down, which is awful, but I'm talking about the two towers on front. If one of these tumbles down, well...

illusionism 73
The Notre Dame survived Napoleon, the French Revolution, World War 1, Nazi Occupation, Mongol hordes and the end of the Dark Ages...to be lost (likely) to a negligent renovation project manager. Off with ha head. 86-OUT

It took so long for the firemen to respond They couldn't get there easily. The seine is still far enough away from the building itself to be a problem. Also, the wooden scaffolding was too brittle and the temperatures were too high because of the stone exterior to allow firefighters inside to try and save anything. ⚯͛

I I went to see the Duomo in Florence and was so awe-struck by its design and beauty. To lose something so ancient is really a hard feeling to explain. I never got to see Notre Dame but my heart still hurts. 86-OUT

It's still not really clear, but so far only one of the towers was on fire for a moment. It's still standing tho. The next hour will be crucial tho.
