People are suspecting that it was caused by a terrorist attack, but I don't think so. If you've ever been to a Catholic church, you would've known that they sure do love their candles. Always was afraid some one would drop a candle and set the church on fire. Also guys, if you want to have a debate about this, please open a new topic. This topic is about the Notre Dame. They had been doing restoration on the building for some time.. Paris 24, a news agency, reported that the fire started 'five to six' minutes after the cathedral closed for the day. When the amount of people affected is greater, the scale of the buildings affected, the symbolism of the building, the cultural/artistic value of the building are all on different scales then in my opinion yes, it is fair to say one tragedy is worse than the other. You wouldn't say a natural disaster like Katrina is a similar tragedy as the 1999 sydney hailstorm. Sure they are both weather related disasters that affected a large amount of people but they aren't on the same scale. I am french and while what happened in Paris in 2013 was tragic I wouldn't dare say that it is as much of a tragedy as what happened in New York on 9/11. By doing so I am diminishing the tragedy of 9/11. If you have a different opinion, fine. That's your right but its also my right to defend my country when people diminish the tragedy that is currently happening. This will be my last post on the subject. And you could argue that the threat millions of black people in the South face after a string of hate crimes on their places of worship, which is clearly an attack on their lives, is greater than the loss of a historical landmark. The argument can go in circles, and as I have stated, neither is more or less tragic. That is your opinion, and I respectfully disagree.
