I think some people are being a bit too harsh on the album (so far), yes it is possibly her simplest work lyrically (and she's stated this many times) but at least it's not as on the nose as some Electra Heart tracks and Savages. Froot is possibly my favourite marina album but I think the production suffers on a few songs whereas all these feel really layered to me, even if they are more 'radio pop' than what we're used to from marina.

Tbh, it's only superstar that I feel is a little beneath her but even then, there's nothing majorly wrong with it and it'd fit into Electra Heart pretty well. Orange Trees is very 'current' and I can see why people don't like it but if people just took it for what it was, a light summery pop song about being in Greece, they might enjoy it. Handmade Heaven remains stunning, Baby is one of the better recent Clean Bandit songs and fits nicely between Orange and Enjoy Your Life. EYL is a lovely song about taking a breath when things are getting you down, reminding you to enjoy what you have, I don't think it's half as vapid as some people are making out. True is a bit too Katy Perry for me (not insulting her, it's just not the direction I want from Marina) having said that, I like it when I listen but I don't find myself going back to it. To Be Human, despite pute the lyrically iffy city hopping verse, is brilliant, the chorus is great, the piano is great, I love it. End Of The Earth might be my favourite, the most 'quirky' track and it's got some 80s cinematic feel to it, it's brilliant.

I do see my self rearranging the tracklist when Fear comes out, just to adjust the flow a bit. And please Marina, give us a proper ballad or two on Fear, even if it is the side with all the bangers on!

Not a huge fan tbh. Handmade Heaven, End Of The Earth, and True are beautiful, To Be Human and Enjoy Your Life are okay, the others are very meh. Hoping FEAR will be better

This is such a delight!  I love her live (saw her on The Lonely Hearts Club Tour and two times on the Neon Nature Tour and look forward her Love + Fear tour!)

While I'm stoked for the Fear side of "Love + Fear," I feel like I've gotta rank or group these new songs -- per this thread.

"Top" 4: Handmade Heaven (bliss), End of Earth (that production!), Enjoy Your Life (thank you for the encouragement, Marina!   You too!), True (nice track)

"Bottom" 4: To Be Human (sounds like Handmade Heaven but adore the lyrics!!!!), Orange Trees (light and airy but not bad! Doens't have to be all serious), Superstar (catchy but not my type of lyrics)  and Baby (gurl, it was released a while ago!)

So far album-wise: #1  =  FROOT, then  The Family Jewels, Electra Heart and Love + Fear

Ok, so I have to say I was incredibly disappointed with the songs so far and snippets. But here are my thoughts after my first listen of LOVE:

Handmade Heaven: Incredible song. A perfect lead single. A very powerful track.

Superstar: Straight garbage. The chorus goes nowhere. It’s so bad it made me FEAR what the rest of the songs would sound like. Only decent part of the song is the bridge.

Orange Trees: Initially I thought it was cringey. Especially the robotic Oooorange. It has grown on me. It’s a fun, summer song. Catchy. I like it. Nothing amazing, however.

Baby: I liked this song. Clean Bandit did a good job. Luis Fonsi and Marina sound surprisingly good together.

Enjoy Your Life: The production is ear candy. I enjoyed it. Especially the  background vocals. It’s fun.

True: Bad. The repetitive lyrics is a cringefest. Marina could do so much better. The production is good though.

To Be Human: Incredible. I got chills. This and Handmade Heaven are the best songs on the album.

End Of The Earth: Interesting production but I didn’t like it. It doesn’t work for me.

Overall it’s ok, not too bad but only two songs were AMAZING.

FROOT is superior. For me, this album is a step backwards. But it is good enough for me to want to listen to FEAR.

Overall i'm impressed, the non singles saved this album 100%, FEAR is gonna be better overall hopefully  :ally:
