She gets positive press now, yes, but nowhere near the level Beyonce got post-SB. I hoped Gaga doing the SB would do the same thing for her as it did for Beyonce, but it didn't get that good. Beyonce's performance is still routinely listed as better than Gaga's even though she didn't push herself the same. That just goes to show how much Beyonce's PR team is golden. And we'll see if Gaga's next album can achieve the amazing first week sales of Beyonce's and have every song on it chart on the top 100. Of course I admire Gaga for taking tips from Beyonce, I never said she shouldn't, I actually encouraged it. My point is that even when she does the exact same things Beyonce did, the praise is still not as universal or as exalted. Having a good marketing campaign doesn't descredit artistry and talent, I never said that. What I am saying is that Beyonce's PR is above and beyond her artistry and talent. She just isn't up to the hype. I haven't found any of her recent work anything above average and I judge an artist by their musical output before all else, more than performance ability. You can be technically perfect but if you don’t tell a story with your singing, you’re just a robot. More than just a technically perfect vocalist (and skipping the fact that in several songs and performances, she actually was) Gaga is a great storyteller. The best examples are found in the ASIB tracks, where she not only manages to get a strong control of her voice, power, breathing and resonance, but also sells everything she’s singing. Guest Posted April 5, 2019 Share Posted April 5, 2019 People really be actin like Beyoncé is Michael Jackson thats what angers me sometimes it's not Beyoncé, she doesnt bother me shes talented, she knows how to use the media and promote her stuff, staying on trends whether political trends or music trends, she's not a pure artist to me though. In the sense that u won't see Beyoncé in her room writing a song bcs she got inspired by a whale one day and it made her think of the world ending. She can dance, she can look pretty, she can perform, her songs can be good for a good 3 months, but it's no Michael Jackson, it's no Prince, it's no big artist of that caliber I'm sorry Bey fans but y'all hyped her way too much. And she plays with that too, she knows how to "look" like a legend, she does it perfectly, it's genius actually. The no interview, keeping a low profile, always wearing out of this world costumes, in her songs self defining herself as a Queen etc It's all in the art of marketing but not art in its purest form... not how I personally define my top 5 artists of all time Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Oh you’re right I agree. Not everyone with good technique has necessarily a good tone. The point of statement was to reply to the person that said Gaga and Beyoncé are on the same level vocally which just isn’t true, most of the time I do prefer Gaga’s tone over Beyoncé’s but that does not change the fact that in vocal agility, technique and stamina Beyoncé is just better.
