Or are those pure sales and Shallow is SPS?

Well, The Fame produced fewer #1 singles than Loud but Gaga's era was clearly bigger. What I'm trying to say is that just because Rihanna has 14 #1 singles doesn't change the fact that she isn't a force in terms of albums and that bigger album sales essentially mean someone's bigger (Rihanna has more #1 singles than Gaga during her peak but Gaga was clearly more successful because her album sold more). In other words: Artists with fewer #1 singles but bigger album sales are considered more successful than acts with plenty of #1 singles but smaller album sales. Ariana Grande can score 210832103 of #1 singles but her album sales determine that she's not as big as Adele or Beyoncé who'll potentially score less #1 singles

Mr S 8,672
She is a singles artist which is not necessarily a bad thing. Also is more of a GP artist rather than having a large fanbase. So her debut weeks are never great. But her albums have tons of hits and they stay on the chart forever so eventually the album sells a lot. But it's dependent on the hits rather than the name/reputation.

RAMROD 109,304
She have dozens of big songs though so that is fine. She is but that's because she's managed to have consistent success. Her career is impressive. I'm just saying the number of her #1 singles does not mean she's bigger than Gaga, for example. You have to look at the album sales as well.
Taide 5,789
Yet she has close to 30 top 10 hits. And people saying her albums are filled with fillers.. I mean as if The Fame, BTW or ARTPOP had no fillers. Her albums are bomb and imo she has only few fillers per album, but yes she's a single artist. However, because ABBA has a 7 million-selling album in the US they are and even if they had zero #1 singles on the Hot 100, their album sales would still put them in legend status whereas if they lacked a big album but had one #1 single on the Hot 100 then they wouldn't be considered as successful.
