Missing the 1 month that pop bars went down.

Shallow has been out for 207 days. Was out of the top 10 in 7 of them. See: http://www.itunescharts.net/us/artists/music/lady-gaga-bradley-cooper/songs/shallow/

Wow that graph :cryga: a smash indeed.

Perfect Illusion s graph is depressing http://www.itunescharts.net/us/artists/music/lady-gaga/songs/perfect-illusion/

Yet some saying it’s too early to label it a flop

Don't you think it is? The era has barely began, and it's only been 4/5 days since the song release.

Madonna hasn't even made any official appearance. All there is it's a song - no video, no live performances, nothing. No even a lyric video. I would say that comparatively the song isn't doing badly, and will get a boost from the upcoming promo.

I honestly don't expect the song, or any upcoming single for that matter, to be a hit. She is not 16, neither 26, not even 36 and started her recording career in 1982, so close to 40 years she has been making music. The album and tour will for sure do amazingly well, but not the singles.

We must not lose perspective here. We don't expect Barbra Streisand or Cher or any other female artist in their 60s or 70s to have a hit, so why would Madonna's case be different? Because she chooses to still be making pop music at this point in her life, be sexual, empowered, and have control over her creative direction?

I understand that for Madonna fans that are followers of charts performance and so on, it can be quite frustrating. Of course everyone likes their fave to do well, be number one, have lots of hits, etc., but it's truly not realistic to place Madonna in that position 40 years into her career. For me, she has had plenty of those, made her mark profoundly into popular music history, collected a number of incredible achievements, and now it's time for us Madonna fans to appreciate  and be thankful for what she is giving us - being it music, amazing visuals, or outstanding tours.

Its really sad that she is doing so bad on itunes...

How is her streaming... good or bad?

meh, had a pretty good start, but like the sales, it's decreasing

I'm not really a follower of charts, and I don't even know how for example the performance of Medellin compares with the singles from her previous era... But streaming wise it seems to be doing better than for example Living for Love or Ghostown.

In terms of Spotify performance, all I could find was this:

1st day: 520,454 streams
2nd day: 773,264 streams
3rd day: 994,654 streams
4th day: 645,281 streams

5th day: 705,000 streams

Total: 2.993.653 streams

Her monthly listeners also appear to have skyrocketed thanks to Medellin (a million more since Wednesday - currently stands at  10,404,607 Spotify listeners). On Youtube, the song currently stands at 6.2 million views, which I think it's not bad for M. Of course, this is just my reading, and I may be getting it completely wrong.

I'm really just happy that she is making music and pouring her heart and soul into this new project, which has a brilliant concept, promising visuals from the video teasers, and still experimenting with her sounds. To me, she seems much more passionate and invested when comparing with her previous two releases and I have really high hopes for this project.

EDIT: And one other thing which I find extremely positive in terms of Madonna and chart performance/radio airplay/etc is that Madonna is the most played legacy act on US Adult Contemporary radio, which is huge. I'm hoping this is a title that Gaga will be able to snatch from her in 20/30 years time. :D It will just further proof Gaga's legendary status, among M and MJ, which is where she belongs.

Sweet but Psycho is said to go Top 10 in the US according to Simm. I don’t know how accurate he’s been though. We’ll have to wait and see

Not very accurate, every time he predicts Shallow's peak, its actually lower than his prediction.

Taylor s lead doesnt even need to go #1. It will still slay the charts and we all know that :huntyga:

but we all know everyone will call her a fad or a flop if it doesn't go #1 lol

they called her a flop just because LYWMM spent only 3 weeks at #1  :triggered:

It is, some countries didn't even have charts yet back in 2008/2009 like Slovenia, Croatia, Iceland etc, so you can't really compare. And considering streaming is a huge factor now, its even more harder to compare.

Sweet But Psycho even went #1 in more places than Single Ladies, so.
