I don’t think Miley will get a hit unless she puts on a Hannah Montana wig and remixes Best of Both Worlds. The music she played at the festival/concert wasn’t promising

apparently Miley is releasing the EP and then later the album. this ep probably won't even have a single.

Pretty sure it's just Katy's fans fake tweets to have support from BTS fans

That is true, and we have seen that with Million Reasons as well, but we know as well that the Oscar’s was her last performance. There was no other way to lift another single in the US without a huge moment like that. ARUTW had its video out and was playlisted already.  Many of us refuse to believe this,  But in the US radio does not make streaming hits. Delicate, Sweet But Psycho, etc. Are clear examples of this.

A label after all is a company that wants to optimize its resources because they have plenty of artists and they all need to have at least a small marketing investment. Without a massive viral moment there was no other way for that song to become a hit at least there.

What needed to be done with ARUTW was already done in the US.

What u miss is that yes, the Oscar performance secured the no 1, but there were other steps that kept the song momentum and made it rise in the charts, 4 months after release.

ARUTW and INLA potential remains huge when you compare them with Shallow and there are still large demographics that could treat them like new songs.

The fact that there arent singles in US remains a question mark. It could make sense if LG6 is close for example.

I think the important lesson is that there isnt just a way to make a song a hit, especially for songs that arent folowing trends. Shallow, ARUTW and INLA wont ever follow the same path as thank u, next and every label outhere probably knows that. Your rules make more sense for regular trendy songs.

Look at the way they promoted and rush all 3 songs (without Shallow) at the same exact time, you simply wont do that if you want other singles to have their time in US. Intercope didn't plan anything in those other countries (they were late aswell) her french label etc most likely wanted this to keep on with the hype for the soundtrack

They promoted the movie with the songs and videos. Thanks for answering again to the other points and for changing the subject again.

We better be back there tomorrow. I'm not here for staying tied with Banana as the 2nd longest Top20 on Spotify for a female :triggered:
