StrawberryBlond 15,555
Such a tragedy for a nation that isn't used to terrorist attacks. NZ always seemed like such a calm, quiet place far from the chaos of the rest of society, so this must have shaken its people to the core. It's horrible that its made so many of us fearful to go out, walk our own streets. This reminded me so much of the recent terrorist attack in Britain, when a man drove his car into a mosque. I did worry at the time if it could inspire copycat incidents. I really don't like the way so many people are responding with violence whenever they see or hear something that doesn't fit their view. I never would've thought when I was younger that in 2019, religion would be a hotbed issue and neo Nazis shouted their stance proudly.

Look how cute this innocent blonde boy was (aren’t all kids innocent?), whose father died of cancer (mine did too and of millions other people too who never turned to violence- how is that related?), “something happened during his travels”, like NK and Pakistan radicalized him and not online white supremacist forums and websites and far right politicians. Disgusted, but not surprised... and how often only blonde is connected with innocence.. 🤔 FreePalestine

Guest
@iCpro @Hybrid Rose are you alright? Do you know anyone who was hurt? I'm watching the live coverage on the TV now and it's heartbreaking, I'm in tears. We're all absolutely shaken. And one of my friends has family who live a block away from where the shooting happened, sending love to him.
Guest
Wow and the Polyfest, NZ's biggest festival celebrating Pacific culture, a huge event, has been cancelled. Obviously it's nowhere near as sad as the actual event but it's just horrible to see its repercussions affecting so many people of so many different cultures. And, this is just as Christchurch was beginning to recover from the earthquakes.

Taide 5,789
I'm disgusted. I was reading some local news outlets and forums and people were saying how they deserved it, how that person erased 50 problems away, how Muslim's did this to themselves etc. How stupid can people be, I'm beyond disgusted and disappointed. It's only matter of time when we'll start putting Arabs/Muslim's in the oven thanks to the xenophobia that's rising in Western countries. **** humanity. monsterboy98 556
My country will never be the same after the events of yesterday. But what people do not realise is that we will rise and thrive in blunt spite of it. Our country is not a country, it is a family. Every single Kiwi shares that sentimental. Anti-white supremacy messages have been written on windows, walls and all down the streets of multiple cities so show that we as a country stand firm, and radiate more love, compassion and empathy than ever for our beautiful muslim communities. We are them, they are us. Thank you for all the support and love from everyone in this forum.
