GypsyBabe 22,836
I won’t drop a dime on a concert where the artist is lipsyncing. Hence why I go to Gaga, Springsteen, Fleetwood Mac (etc) shows over anyone else. The vocal is a huge part of performance and is unique to every show. ⚯͛
Ronk 14,762
I stand with Gaga on this. I go to plenty of concerts, but only to see artists who sing live. There is magic in a live performance. The magic is in the music and in the emotion and interaction between the artist and the audience. The artist standing in front of you is genuine and their connection with the audience is genuine. Some of that would be lost with lip synching. Here are five examples I videoed with a 30x zoom to show only the faces of the artists at times. It is obvious they were not lip synching. Also, there was no dancing. The beauty in these performances derives from the emotional contact with the artist standing before you. I post these only as examples of the point I am making.         I live outside the space time continuum. I like your example of Sexxx Dreams. The chorus of that song is hard to sing with a lot of power. She almost has to sing it in a falsetto, high pitched, quiet voice, so a backing track is helpful in keeping the full sound of the track during the chorus. Without a backing track, you would probably struggle to hear the chorus at all. The difference is Gaga still sings live with the backing track, as opposed to some others who just mouth along and don’t sing. I also agree that a backing track is like having backup singers. The only difference is a backing track is all the artist’s voice so it sounds more cohesive. Thank you! I feel this is especially relevant nowadays as the venues being performed in are much larger than they used to be *and* are not typically music venues, but sports and multi-purpose arenas. The acoustics are so poor that imo anything to enhance the experience and audio should be welcomed. Like you said, so long as they’re singing, who cares?

I’ve seen her a few times over the years and she’s always stellar and always live the entire time. She puts on a phenomenal show.  Agreed about Bruce; his resilience at his age is absolutely amazing. Doing longer concerts than most, no breaks, live, running around, playing guitar. It’s impressive to say the least. bluemonkey 639
I feel like Gaga shouldn’t have said that cuz it might bite her ass in the future. I’m sure she would need to lip sync at one time or another, a lot of the greats have needed to either cuz their voice is not right that day or other reasons or they need to preserve their voice. I know Celine Dion does it a lot I’m her Vegas shows. For me, it’s not a huge deal cuz at least we know it’s still their voice. I mean it’s not like Milli Vanilli where it’s not even their own voice. And like people pay to see **** like this you’re basically paying to see a light show. We all have our preferences and I try not to judge on others taste. Just like with music. There are many people who believe pop music is not a legit art form cuz it’s just “commercialized” also would consider Andy Warhol or Jackson Pollock real artist? They are in history books but one just stamps images and other just throws paint on canvases but you hear historians commenting that Warhol’s works are a social commentary and Pollock’s work represent his inner emotions and it was like he was show his feelings through the splatters and brush strokes. Come on guys, your ARTPOP can be anything. So free your mind.
2School4Cool 6,449
I would like to know what everyone’s opinion is in this one performance. Gaga never lipsyncs, I know for a fact she morally disagrees with it, but this is the only video I have ever seen that appears to be lipped in my opinion, especially at the end of the performance. The reason I ask is not to throw shade at Gaga or hate on her at all, because knowing her, if she ever lip syncs there is a legitimate, justifiable, unavoidable reason for it. I am just curious if any of you have a guess what the reason may be for it. It is important to note that after Poker Face she left the stage and didn’t perform Telephone and just let the dancers perform the song without her. This is the only time that this happened on the entire tour, at least that I’m aware of. Is it possible she was sick and couldn’t sing because she was nauseous, which would explain her leaving the stage early? Or am I totally crazy and not realizing that’s she’s singing quietly? What are your thoughts? See The Best In Everyone

Edonis 28,950
Luckily my favs tend to sing live so it's a non-issue really That being said, the only time I would genuinely be offended by it is if the performer was trying to pass it off as live-singing when it's nothing more than miming on stage.
