Does #1 really matter that much?

So, here we are with 4 number #1 hits for our Lady, but I have to say it. Does it really matter that much?

It seem a bit like a vanity goal of sorts. Bad Romance never went #1 but it's clearly Gaga's biggest song.

being on the Hot 100 by itself is a good indicator of sucess and being the number one song says a lot about you, but in the future do people really remember that song for being number one or the most played?

But I can see how being number one is important for new artists. I would say they were more significant in the first days of Gag's career than now.

No because there are several untalented artists that have a #1. However, after 8 years its quite refreshing to see Gaga achieve this again.

its mostly used by stans to brag about their faves.

Pretty much this. Stan twitter ruins a lot of things, if you don't hit #1 these days you're considered a flop

I still think Poker Face is her biggest song not Bad Romance. Bad Romance just established her Gaga aesthetic and was a big hit but it wasnt bigger than poker face...

Also they matter now that she got one again otherwise it wouldnt :poot:

Not important. But nice to have. I’d take longevity in the charts over a quick #1.

#1s absolutely don't matter. I read a great comment one time on some site that said something like "the GP doesn't even know these girls release albums" which is the cold hard truth. I told my mom that Shallow went #1 because she liked ASIB and works in the film industry so she isn't totally oblivious to metrics, and she was like "how does a song go number #1?" :air:

Billboard charts are the girls and gays version of, like, sports league rankings.

Doesnt matter as much as having Grammies Oscar BAFTA, CCA :firega: But once you have all that, a no.1 is the icing on the cake. :firega::firega:

Well I often look at Wikipedia billboard achievements and the only songs from the 60s-70s I really listen to are the #1s or ones that have reached major mile stones. I think people in the future will do the same.

No.  Years from now people won't remember which songs went #1.  If decades from now people recognize a song when they hear it, that's really something special.

I live outside the space time continuum.

It's more of a token now. But a good indicator of commercial power that someone still has.

Not necessarily. Beyonce hasn't had her own #1 in a while. Would you say she hasn't got commercial power? I wouldn't.
