Hi all! :sara:

Welcome to the long-awaited and heavily delayed but now finally here ceremony for 'Lust For Life' by Lana Del Rey!

220px-Lana_Del_Rey_-_Lust_for_Life.png

In this ceremony, I, as your host, will present the overall scores for each track on the album.

These scores are the averages of all the rates that participants have sent to me over the last couple of months, so we will be able to see what are, by popular opinion, the best and worst tracks on the album.

I will also post the comments on each track of those who sent them!

If this is your first time hearing about this album or you haven't listened to it before, go ahead! It's a brilliant album and maybe you could share your opinions as we go. Also, if you are seeing this thread but didn't participate initially, you can still hang around, see the results and share your opinions on them! If you know anyone else who might be interested in the ceremony, feel free to tag them :D

The original megarate thread:

The ceremony will begin in about 20 minutes. Let the games begin! :chica:

#16. Coachella - Woodstock In My Mind

9-Coachella-Woodstock-In-My-Mind.jpg

Overall Score: 6.92

Highest Score: 10 - @GypsyVida @Blue Madonna @FentyGa @FfFfFfFF @SFDMQ @NNES @KinneyUnderYou

Lowest Score: 2 - @therokinrolla @Phoebe Buffay

@Blue Madonna's comments:

Not only is this song criminally underrated, it is criminally overhated. It has a cute yet important message, and while I admit some of the lyrics are perhaps not the best way to convey this idea, I can see what she’s going for. I love the production, the somewhat trappy beat works perfectly with her vocals, and the way her vocals come in with the first ‘what about all these children?’ in the pre-chorus is just heavenly. This song gave me one of my favourite Lana lyrics ever; ‘maybe my contribution could be as small as hoping / that words could turn to birds and birds would send my thoughts your way’ :pray: The outro is wonderful, and while it took me a while to come around to this song (I did not like it when it came out as a single, and initially resented its place on the album) it has, for me, had about equally long longevity as Love. Since the day I heard it in the context of the album, I’ve loved it, and it probably had the longest time of me being absolutely obsessed with it out of all the songs on the album, and possibly even Lana songs. A very close second to my 11, I found it painful not to *slightly* abuse my host powers to give it a higher placement :nooo:

Comments Part I:

Spoiler

@Trepadation: lana’s worst or second to last worse song.

@HausOfHarlow: Just no. Wasn't a fan of the release prior to the album, even less a fan that it made it onto the album.

@Punktious: I truly don't get the hate around this song. It's not her best, but by far not her worst.

@Lonely Lolita: a bop

@Rumours1977: For me, this is another filler track that doesn’t really distinguish itself from the other tracks. I do appreciate what I perceive to be a Led Zeppelin reference as well as the reference to Woodstock. I wish I liked this song more than I do, but it is not terrible by any means

@ARTPOP2: I love it but lacking good production

@Amphetamine: idg the hate this song gets, the production is a little cheap sounding, but the melody and lyrics I think are really powerful

@AJK273: Okay when she did that instagram video in the park I was IN LOVE. When they announced she was getting it produced I was excited for a nice mellow song with a powerful message (Kinda thought it would sound like what VB and MAC ended up sounding like lol). When it came out I was dissapointed it had been turned into a trap song but I was okay with it because the song underneath was so good. Then it got put on the album. Then it bumped of songs like Roses Bloom For You, Yosemite and Architecture and I was PISSED. The song makes me angry just hearing it and to be honest I am being generous giving it a 3. Should have just left it as a little fan teaser and not ended up on the album. Next.

@hausofcy: I feel like this one isn’t as loved as it should be. The ‘stairway’ part just gives me goosebumps. There should be a proper intro tho

Comments Part II:

Spoiler

@Oriane: It doesn’t particularly stand out compared to other songs.

@Suspiria: why was this even on the album. It's such a demo-sounding mess

@FfFfFfFF: I know everyone hates this song but it was a grower for me. It's honestly one of Lana's most climatic songs, after 2:00 it's just gorgeous.

@corvus albus: We feel your jealousy Lana, we all do :cryga:

@hellothing: This song is severely underrated. ‘What about these children? Why am I even wondering that today? Maybe my contribution could be as small as hoping.’ This song is the very essence of Lust for Life. I cried the first time I listened to this track while contemplating the words. It’s so deep and it’s so positive it literally overwhelmed me. Imagine a world where everyone asks these questions and are actually looking for answers. Definitely an album highlight.

@halcyonpop: (Omg I know you said you wanted us to rate this one higher but I just couldn't do it :() Not my favorite. I remember when she released it as a buzz single and I prayed it wouldn't make it on the record. I like the lyrics and the Father John Misty reference, but this sound just doesn't do anything for m.e

@The Bling: Eh

Neither of those songs deserve last :madge:

I must say I'm disappointed but not surprised about this one. It's my third favourite though, after Love and 13 Beaches! :nooo:
