Um neither. Both are talented, hardworking women who had to stay at the top of their game to get where they are now. They're also not the only ones who don't write all of their music. This ain't it chief.

I disagree that Beyoncé has become more manufactured over time too. Self titled and Lemonade are by far her most personal albums and she has taken considerable risks since her R&B days. IMO her father was holding her back from experimenting with her sound

I honestly can't decide. Rihanna has creative control over her albums and shows I think, she might not necessarily come up with every single thing, but she definitely contributes creatively to her producers.

Yes, Bey doesn't write most of her own songs but she exerts a ton of creative control. She's almost infamous for it as a micro-manager.

Rihanna was churning out album after album but had more of a voice the older she got, and Anti was all her.

They're probably coming off as manufactured because of the lack of the Gaga factor lol... We're used to Gaga, waiting for the next trick up her sleeves. Every appearance and performance she does HAS to be talked about. Every performance she does has to be at least well thought of. We're always kept on our toes waiting for her next spectacle.

Rihanna up to "Bitch Better Have My Money" was certainly manufactured to some degree. But her rebellious personality certainly made up for it. She tried breaking away from the machinery with Rated-R and look how that turned out. Anti (artistically) and Fenty Beauty(she no longer needs to make money from music) have solidified her influence as a pop culture behemoth.

Beyonce was never manufactured, and it shows with the many peaks and valleys in the career. But it got to a point where she is obsessed over controlling her image and public narrative (no interviews, etc).

Both were manufactured to an extent in their early days, and both have managed to get more of a grip of their own careers as they have become more successful. 

Lemonade is an incredibly personal project and along with the film really stood out from a lot of other albums that year.

Anti was a very different sound for Rihanna and seemed to be more of the kind of thing that she likes to make.
