A Star Is Born could've definitely approached the subject slightly better but they still did a good job. Most films do much worse and actively spread misinformation about mental illnesses.

One of the psychiatrists I work with also wrote an article on ASIB and mental health/inter generational trauma/alcohol&substance abuse and sent it to her community of over 9000 psychiatrists!

ASIB honestly had the most cultural impact and will be the most remembered historically of all of this years nominees for best picture, and frankly, in many years. The fact that it didn't win, ESPECIALLY in favor of the white-washed Green Book, is appalling.

When you look back at those 91 years, it’s apparent that the Oscars have often missed the mark. 2019 is no different. At least, the film was nominated.
