Encore was better

So I just got back from the theatre a little while ago. I gotta day, Encore is better than the original film. I obviously love the original, but after seeing Encore it just makes so much more sense. There were a lot of missing gaps in there that these scenes filled in for me. For example, they elaborated more on the whole tribute performance Jackson did, which I’m glad because I had no clue what the deal was in the original my first few views. I also like that they showed more of jack and ally on tour. In the original, it was hard to tell how long this film took place. But with the added scenes you could tell that they were together a lot longer. I also loved the is that alright added scene, it was so beautiful and I almost started crying. And I thought it was cool that they showed her planning her tour and picking out outfits. I did think Dave Chapels infamous line from the trailer would be there lol. But I like that he had more lines. I feel like there were a lot of little things in there that were hanged or updated. I did notice the end of the bathtub scene was different, when she says “he’s fine” the camera view is completely different.

what did you guys think of it?

I am curious. Now that the live version of Is That Alright is actually in the film is it still used as the first song in the credits?

It was the ORIGINAL version in the credits at my showing tonight, but I was waiting outside of the theatre and the other showing before mine was just ending and it was the "DREAMS OF YOU AND ME ARE IN THE DIRT" version which was really weird.

I’m really glad to have seen it and there were a few tiny parts I feel they shouldn’t have cut out, but overall, it really really made the second half of the movie drag. If anything, they should’ve cut a little more. Encore is def only for hardcore fans.

"Dreams of you and me are in the dirt" is Always Remember Us That Way, which is the last credits song after Is That Alright and Black Eyes. I was asking if Is That Alright is still the first song that plays when the credits start. I only ask because in the theatrical version they play the live wedding scene audio of Is That Alright at the start of the credits and I was curious if they made any changes to this since that audio is now in the film.

I thought the bit with Jackson was interesting, because I was confused as to -how- his career kind of slumped. Like in the original he has sold out concerts, a private jet, etc. and then it seems like a year later he's being replaced by some youtube sensation. In reality a big established star like that doesn't just drop right away. It still isn't that clear during Encore, but it makes a bit more sense.

I also liked that it showed that Ally had some agency with picking things out. But yes, I agree that it made it drag a bit. I kind of like both equally: Encore was a bit more draggy, but illuminated some issues. Regular ASIB was less draggy, but had a few plotholes.

Some people always complain that some things need to be explained more so we got that now and yet they complain again that the movie is more draggy now:saladga:

I need to see the encore, but I don't think I can fit it in my schedule. Hopefully we get a official extended edition!
