Edit: Don't get me wrong, I love the song, and I think some of the songs on the soundtrack are among the best she's ever recorded but I would never consider them the most "important" ones of her career. They don't represent her imo  

Sometimes even the most random stimulus can inspire a songwriter, even someone else's story. A songwriter can take many forms & exhibit their talent through experiences which they've never lived or felt themselves. 

Songwriting is not about personal experience solely, it's about arousal, wherever it stems from. No matter what inspired her to write it, Shallow is hers as much as Poker Face is.

I feel like Gagas most important songs in the long run are 

#1 Bad Romance (i feel like it was even more iconic than Poker Face despite what the charts say )

#2 Poker Face 

#3 Born This Way 

#4 Shallow (this song was massive and now its just being taken to a whole other level after awards season, its rocketing up the charts currently to new heights after already being a massive ww smash, its a truly defiant song. However i feel the top 3 are just too bombastic for Shallow to take over)

#5 Just Dance

#6 The Edge Of Glory (this song is a classic worldwide and i feel like this was smashing at the height of Gagas commercial power during the first half of her career and the gp wont let go of this song ever)

#7 Paparazzi (a timeless radio smash which will always be one of her most played hits i think, i hear this a lot on the radio still to this day)

#8 Telephone (the biggest collaboration of all time)

#9 Applause (a ww big hit, an iconic video, even most of the gp remembers the katy vs gaga era and also i feel like this song will always be remembered because it was her only true hit between the years of 2012 to 2016 MR became a smash in 2017 remember)

#10 Alejandro (its so catchy that you can not listen to it for 5 years and still remember the lyrics, this song wont be forgotten for the gp, even if it is less succesful than most of her other big hits)

#11 Million Reasons 

I feel these are the ultimate 11 to the gp.
