there was more than a little theatre and character in early Gaga.

Yes, but that’s who she truly was on the inside. 2008 Lady Gaga wasn’t just a dress-up persona. It was the most accurate representation of herself.

Ally was a fictional character created by a group of writers to help drive the narrative of the film, and Gaga changed her appeareance to conform to the writers’ creation.

Well Just Dance was super important to make her famous in the first place

Poker Face was a huge commercial hit that made her a force

Bad Romance is still her most iconic to date

And now Shallow to resurect her  career

I'd say those 4 are her most important

I think I'll also add BTW to that list. It's become an LGBT anthem. Very few songs achiee such classic status within such a short time.

Fair enough in terms of an impact

I was speaking more in terms of importance to her career

It is. Gaga will be performing Born This Way for the rest of her life and she sees it as very important to her career. She even finished Enigma with it instead of Bad Romance (the Classic Gaga portion anyways). I think that says leaps and bounds about her thoughts and feelings on the song in comparison to Bad Romance.

It is part of her most important songs

But Bad Romance; Poker Face, Just Dance, Paparazzi and Born This Way made her legacy and where she is right now.

Bad Romance  > Poker Face > Born This Way > Shallow

I lowkey agree with you. She has another memorable songs but after all the **** she's been through, all this massive success feels surreal. I never thought that she would smash ww with a song like that. If it's the MOST important I don't know..yet. But given the context it's top 3 for sure.

the scars on my mind are on replay.

I Will Always Love You isn't even a Whitney song but it is one of her most important hits

But Whitney was not a songwriter...

I would say Just Dance was her most important song. It was the first song she released to the mainstream public and it was the first glimpse we saw of her. It was a huge hit and while she has changed a lot since then (understandably), Just Dance continues to be her signature song.

Also Born This Way. #1 for weeks and EVERYONE was talking about it when it was released.

Wouldn’t JD be the most important since it gave her a career in the first place? Or rather, the chance to seize a career. JD was her best opportunity.

nah nah nah, POKER FACE gave her a career
