People dislike it 'cause it's not as pop and cunty as Dangerous Woman. There are a few songs that are really terrible, like Borderline, Sweetener, The Light Is Coming, Pete Davidson, Goodnight n Go. But the rest is good.

you did NOT just put goodnight n go in the same category as The Light is Coming :madge:

Because it's bad, period.

What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

Because it's not standard bubblegum pop

LM's seem to dislike anything hip hop infused...

This, this, & this.

I disliked it at first but I gave it a second chance some weeks ago and it wasn't as bad as I remembered. NTLTC slaps, everytime, borderline, better off & goodnight n go are pretty nice tracks. GIAW and breathin are good too but they sound kinda dated me. Everything else is trash though.

I respect ariana and her fans but i still can't find anything interesting in her music .

I only like few songs on "dangerous woman" but the rest of her discography is just meh.

As someone who isn’t an Ariana stan I can say that sweetener is my favorite work of hers. God Is A Woman, No Tears Left To Cry, Sweetener, Breathin, etc. there are so many great songs from that album.

I just find it very bland overall. Pharrell's production really didn't do it for me, particularly on Blazed and The Light Is Coming and I've never been a huge fan of Pharrell as it is, always found him massively overrated. REM was about the only song I liked that he worked on. The Light Is Coming is truly one of the worst tracks I've ever heard, especially with that annoying "you wouldn't let anybody speak" sample continuously obnoxiously playing over it. Track after track was just so forgettable, apart from the few tracks I like, the album's a bit of a blur for me, I have to go back and listen to occasional tracks to even remind myself how some sounded. I like REM, God Is A Woman, Breathin, Better Off and Goodnight N Go, but that's it. But even then, God Is A Woman is the only real standout, the other ones are little better than ok. I think it's her second worst album after her debut and a massive letdown after her best album so far, Dangerous Woman. I'm stunned that so many critics like it, making it the best reviewed pop album of the year. Really don't know what it's doing for them as it doesn't utilise anything they'd usually love.

I wasn’t an Ariana fan until thank u, next but I will say fans probably thought it was good but not good enough.

Similar to how fans felt about Joanne.

I think the main issue for me is that Sweetener has very inconsistent production and actually sounds like 3 EPs merged into one. GIAW, breathin, NTLTC, and Goodnight n go are the standouts for me while the others have very odd compositions. They're not "bad", they just have limited replay value. I felt a lot of the songs seemed experimental rather than a specific genre. The first time I heard most of the tracks I was uncomfortable because I couldn't follow it and didn't know what was going on (just watch AjayII's reaction to the album and it perfectly sums it up)

TUN is amazingly cohesive and I can't stop listening to it (skipping 7 Rings. I'll never understand why Ari wasted her strong vocals on a track like that...) I watched her interview with Zane Lowe and it's fascinating how the album came about and how quickly her and some friends put it together in such a short amount of time and it's my fav work of hers since DW. :tea:

The album has some of Ariana's best songs ever: R.E.M, God is a woman, everytime, breathin, goodnight n go (although a cover/remix)

But also some of her worst songs ever: blazed, sweetener, successful, no tears left to cry
