Gagadonna 10,801
Okay so I just watched Vox Lux (2018) with Nathalie Portman which I find quite... weird but still somehow enjoyable. At some point, this scene appears in the movie: A studio version of the song was released alongside the soundtrack: Spoiler A demo of the song sung by Sia leaked in 2016: Spoiler Reading comments on YouTube, I found that the song was previously sung as a ballad by random band Fussypuss for the TV show "Transparent" (2015), way before Vox Lux. People on YouTube commented that Sia wrote the song Smoke and Mirrors, which was used first for Transparent, and then for Vox Lux. Spoiler https://youtu.be/aYgm4ecW_CQ I am so confused, I didn't there existed so many versions of the song I kinda understand the process of Partynauseous: the rnb song for Kendrick's album (leaked, see below) -> the full techno song intended for ARTPOP (unleak) -> the short interlude at artRave Kendrick's version: ... but I don't understand the link between "Partynauseous" and "Smoke and Mirrors" (which uses Partynauseous' instrumental) Can someone shed light on that? Gagadonna 10,801
also, that's crazy how impactful an unreleased ARTPOP song ended up years later
Gracious Gaga 17,163
This movie is full of bops and there’s been discussions on here about this before! Smoke and mirrors uses some of the instrumental from party nauseous ♥ Kindness Police.

JazzGa 14,621
Whoah, I knew that it was common that songs are re-used by the entertainment industry especially if they are just used for film/television and never released on a popular musician's album, but I had no idea that Partynauseous and Hologram were linked! That's so cool. I think DJWS produced the rave version of PN but I don't think he had any hands in Vox Lux. I wonder who produced the Kendrick version? On another note, this is more evidence of why the songwriting and music of ASIB is so special. When ordinary Hollywood stars make a movie about music, they buy great songs from great songwriters and musicians. When Lady Gaga makes a movie about music, she calls up her buddies, who call up their buddies, and they write it all from scratch!
