I think I disagree with both of y'all.

Idisagree with the backlash she received online. It was straight up harassment and whichever monsters trashed her need to be banned from social media; who knows who else they're trashing, who else their victims are. It's plain toxic. We are all rational here, we all agree it's toxic. Maybe we should apologize to Sarah on their behalf, or maybe we can get them reported. I don't know. But I feel terrible leaving it at that; I feel bad that this has to be a Haus member's experience with fans.

I also disagree, however, that the look was objectively "timeless and amazing", and that all disagreements are wrong by default. Be brave enough to voice criticism but respectfully; some of y'all truly expect fans to be yes men and are shutting down even the slightest remark that doesn't kiss the woman's boots.

They are grown adults. Yes, harassment will get to anyone and should be stopped, but not critique. Constructive criticism doesn't operate the same as harassment; there is nothing wrong with, say, suggesting that maybe an eyeliner here, or some lashes or whatever it is you guys wanted would have improved the look.

But, what does suggesting eyeliner and lashes actually accomplish? She's not going to change her look for some anonymous gaggle of fans? Gaga doesn't exist for our consumption and her team aren't a squash court waiting to take whatever you can't stop yourself from typing. Fans need to think about important events as important events. Would you tell a stranger you wish they did their graduation makeup slightly differently, let alone tell someone you don't know they can't do their job as MUA if everyone actually involved loves the look? You people have worms in your brains...

I didn't suggest we tell her she can't do her job as MUA; that would be harassment which I clearly object. The distinction seems to elude you. Even professionals don't perfect every damn thing they do.

I am simply acknowledging that nobody is necessarily above criticism, not even Lady Gaga herself. I am not encouraging people to harass her. She can also do whatever she wants with the criticism, nobody's holding a gun to her head. But what harm is there in a mere suggestion, be it online or otherwise? It is her job after all, not just some one-time graduation make up. There is plenty of wiggle room between straight up harassment or disrespect and mere silence.

And there's no need for insults like "you have worms in your brain", ironically you're the one who seems to want to protect her from all criticism yet here you are with the insults. That comes across as slightly hypocritical.

I didn't hate her makeup last night but it wasn't something I was thrilled about. She looked WAY better at the screen actors guild.

This an edit I found on twitter and I would've loved this. The outfit needed a bold face imo

It doesn't the match the character she's projecting though at all. This makeup makes her look a dominatrix whatever and she's clearly trying to go the Audrey Hepburn kind of vibe.

Did you all not see how beautiful Gaga looked in closeups during the Shallow performance?  Clearly the makeup was designed for that more than anything but twitter experts don’t consider anything other than first reactions and their own prejudiced expectations. Nobody except “fans” are calling Gaga anything but beautiful. Internet keyboard warriors all acting like they can harass a professional with no knowledge of circumstances, environment, or backstory.

Yeah I disagree. Something needed to change with last nights makeup. She looked unfinished. She doesn't need to add to much more but minor details would've made her look even better.

Tbf though I couldn't care less about her makeup, I'm just glad she won an Oscar

Damn... imagine if these monsters were here during Tara’s makeup... it was pretty divided then but it wasn’t hateful as this. Sarah was an upgrade! I hope she doesn’t let this get to her.

Tbh, Tara is the one that they wants to replace Sarah with.:huntyga:

Tara's works usually received more positive reviews from LMs.

The makeup needed something, yes, but that something is nowhere near the picture you posted.

I just wish everyone just wouldn't care about Gaga's makeup that much (esp since she just won an Oscar :toofunny:) bc it's definitely adding to the reasons why she hates her own fanbase now :toofunny:

Were you here during 2012-2014? She was hated everywhere just like Richy is today... on Twitter, GGD, everywhere. It was bad. This is literally the same situation, except this is more vitriolic, which is a shame considering Sarah is a superior MUA.

It's a fanbase full of millions of people, people are gonna care

ain't sh*t any of us can do about that other than focus on what matters and let haters hate

Little monsters are rotting their brains in social media echo chambers and communal reinforcement is makes them act real brave without considering they're speaking directly to her team. Perhaps not you, because I understand you realize there are boundaries but I think it's still disrespectful to be like well, these people are a**holes but what these a**holes are saying has some merit. Her team are literally deleting their social media accounts so they don't have to deal with LMs, and asking LMs to stop dragging their friends, and you're like 'what's the harm in suggestion?!' :toofunny:

I don't think it's productive to say Gaga's job is to wear makeup, or even look nice, but I understand why some people think that way. Like I said, Gaga, herself, is not for our consumption. But, really, we don't have to be our own worst enemies. Only fans think Gaga looked bad and that's telling.

It's a perfect reference to Audrey Hepburn. The InstaGlam peasants thinks the only makeup look that is good is a Krispy Kreme highlight, chocolate matte butthole lip, and smoky eyeliner seen from space.

That is TERRIBLE! :💔

I bet most of these people didn't know jack shxt about make-up anyway! :triggered:

The fact that Gaga looks at Oscars last night were in Top list on many media says by itself.
