judxs 762
The ceremony is going to be as predictable as ever. Best Picture / Roma (should be The Favourite) Best Actor / Christian Bale (should be Bradley) Best Actress / Glenn Close (on par with Gaga) Best Director / Alfonso Cuaron (should be Yorgos Lanthimos) Best Original Song / Shallow
StrawberryBlond 14,685
I think I'll ultimately feel a slight annoyance if Glenn or Olivia win Best Actress as, from what I've seen from their performances, neither of them exert superior acting to me. Glenn's playing the classic long-suffering wife character and I know it's controversial to say but I think her performance is only getting praised because she's old (I've found that older actors usually get more praise for performances that are passable at best while younger stars' passable performances are called out for what they are). And as for Olivia, well, from what I've seen of this movie, she overdoes the acting to be "funny" and surreal humour is not where I'm at. But I'm prepared for either one of them to win even so as it would be madness to predict otherwise. I'll be really annoyed if Bohemian Rhapsody wins any technical awards as not only is this not an Oscar worthy movie (it's totally only getting these nominations because it's Queen, such biopics usually don't get nominated) and had a no good director at the helm. If Rami wins for his performance, fair enough, although his recent comments about Freddie's ghost really made me lose support for him. I don't want to see it win anything that will exalt its directing choices because of Bryan Singer. If Bohemian Rhapsody or Black Panther win Best Picture, it'll really take down the credibility of the ceremony. BR, for what I sad above as regards Black Panther, superhero movies do not belong in the Best Picture award and when previous superhero movies that were just as good or better have never been nominated, it makes it really obvious why its nomination exists and I'm not for fake progessivism. And if anything other than Shallow wins Best Original Song, I'll blow a gasket. It has literally won at every ceremony that its been nominated. There's a part of me that fears it'll got to All The Stars in order to give Black Panther a win but I think they know they'll look bad if they don't let Shallow win and be the only award ceremony that failed to do that. Even if Diane's song wins instead, I'll still be furious.
