Folding phones will come but I don’t think they will ever take off tbh, unless it was so thin and a 4 folder (think about folding an A4 piece of paper in half and then half again. There's a difference between mid-range androids and flagships. It's not a device for most consumers, it's just the first step towards better and better foldables.
