It's not a credible source at all. Also, just because those protesters are Venezuelans (if we assume they are), doesn't mean that they are experts on socialism or politics. Venezuela isn't a socialist state, and although the government may have supported some policies that could be classified as "socialist", connections between socialism and Venezuelan crisis are still very remote. Socialism refers to system where workers and ordinary people are controlling means of production. All those policies that may help ordinary people and ordinary workers to gain more power could be called socialist. American republicans and right-wingers despise ordinary people and they support corporate power so it's obvious that they are opposed to socialist policies. Right-wingers are obsessed with blabbering about Venezuela only because they think they can use it as an argument against socialism but in reality it is a really poor argument. It is true that American republicans and right-wingers are actually against socialism but in reality that means they are against giving more rights to ordinary people and when they are saying that they are "pro-freedom" that is just propaganda. What about all the corrupted countries ruled by right-wing leaders? Are they arguments against capitalism? American capitalist society was built on genocide and slavery - is that argument against capitalism? Nazi Germany privatized basically the whole state economy and privatization is integral part of capitalist policies. Also, if I recall, the economic crisis there started bc exporting oil there was really profitable, so they relied the major of their economy in it, then when the oil prices decreased all hell broke loose (typical capitalist crisis). The opposition took advantage and started a political crisis looking to take power. Economic crisis aggravated. (who would invest in such an unstable country?) And all of the blame is in socialism... Interesting. (I am not defending Venezuela's government or its actions, I know that they did it wrong making the state too big and onerous, i'm just saying that the problem is much more complex than putting all the blame on a so called socialism. AND, in Brazil kind of the same thing happened, people got into all of this anti-socialist hysteria and now we have the worst government ever.)
