I think that people are getting used to this toned down- Gaga and she wanted to switch it up. Everybody expected a piano, yet she made the performance more rock-ish. This is basically what she has been doing her entire career, you put her in a box, she pushes right through. The performance was great, maybe not her best but still it delivered.
