He didn't have to. And I don't blame him for it, because it was business as usual at that point. But it is absolutely possible and almost necessary for a democrat now to run a people funded campaign. Bernie Sanders has proved this.

He did if he wanted to compete.

During the primaries, two dozen federally registered lobbyists gave money to Sanders’s presidential campaign. One super PAC supporting Sanders spent hundreds of thousands of dollars, and a second endorsed him. Separately, Sanders hosted at least nine medium- to high-dollar, closed-door fundraisers in New York, Los Angeles and elsewhere to directly fund his own presidential campaign. Those small dollar donations weren’t going to raise enough money...especially if he had won the nomination.

She identifies as a socialist and that eliminates markets and competition... I don't agree with that. She supports transitioning to complete socialism which is so extreme that it doesn't exist anywhere on Earth today. It doesn't matter if her socialism is "democratic," it's still socialism that outlaws all capitalist ideals and that is a currently nonexistent economy. As I said, I support her initiatives and would gladly vote for them. We MUST transition to renewable resource immediately. I'm not the one you have to convince, sis.

Democratic socialism is not socialism.

AOC does not want to eliminate the markets or competition, she has never said that, and she has actually stated that you can make capitalist and socialist ideas work together. And, yes - obviously - we already have socialist policies in the US. The public sector is better than the private sector for some things and vice versa.

The leaders of the democratic socialists of America have stated that they believe in a FULL transition away from capitalist ideals (that includes markets/competition). She is a member of that organization.

If she is true to the belief that capitalist and socialists ideals can work together, that means I have a lot more in common with her. But if that is the case, she must LEAVE the democratic socialists of america as they don't support that same mission.

I honestly think that I agree with her in the most part... But her fundamental ideology, since she is currently part of the democratic socialists of america and their belief that markets/competition should be abolished, is very different than mine.

I hope she does truly believe that capitalism and socialism can work in harmony because they can and that's the ideal solution for the people.

Man, once the boomers die it's over for this bullshit. Her sentiments echo the majority of Gen X and beyond and I foresee the internet making it impossible for rampant corruption to thrive.
