Ally Campana 15,284
Supercut is my fave. I cried when I first listened to it. It reminds me of an ex. Cause In my head I did everything right. I think it’s the authenticity and vulnerability that makes the album a masterpiece. Easily one of the best albums of all time. Too bad the world paid it dust in terms of sales. Does it matter? Ziggy 11,850
It works because Lorde has absolutely no hesitation to let herself feel and has the intelligence to be able to communicate how she’s feeling in ways both very specific to her and universal. Paired with that are vocal deliveries and production to match that similarly build and burst and crackle and twist and scream and cry throughout the album. A someone else said, it’s the authenticity of it. On a *slightly* more superficial note, I think it helps that it was pretty much born from a collaboration between her and Jack Antonoff. It stays cohesive because they’re pushing each other but can also provide the outside clarity to one another to prevent the album from being unwieldy or uneven.
