New York Times:

"I will let out a note as prolonged as Lady Gaga’s melismatic trailer howl if anything but 'Shallow' wins this Oscar. It is the centerpiece duet of 'A Star Is Born,' the source material for one of last year’s most iconic movie scenes and an irresistible earworm, so how could it not win? Well, just to play devil’s advocate: If voters wanted to truly put an exclamation point on the award-season underperformance of 'A Star Is Born,' they could deprive Bradley Cooper’s former front-runner of the only Oscar it is likely to take. But the academy wouldn’t stoop to such a troll move, would it?"

Miracle

Gaga deserves the Best Actress Oscar. Olivia Colman was slightly better than hers imo but they were completely different roles. An Oscar shouldn't be an award for a career. The truth is Glenn Close's always had stronger competition and that's the reason she hasn't won an Oscar yet. She's an icon but she should either star in a better movie or get the legacy award, which she completely deserves.

If Glenn Close had an Oscar, this would EASILY be Gaga's game. And to those saying Gaga doesn't deserve the Oscar yet...an Oscar is not an award for being a good actress throughout an extense period of time, it's the celebration of a magnificent performance, and her role as Ally tickes all the boxes of a great performance, in the level of Emma Stone in La La Land, f.ex

The last few pages were so enjoyable to read, +++ updates everywhere.

even if its US peak is kinda gross compared to the rest of the world, Shallow is already a Gaga classic.

We should take into account Shallow may possibly get a 2x boost this Sunday, considering it will be performed AND may win its category.

Well I thought they voted for quality and not because of press/hype. The Academy is a joke. But I'm sure Shallow will win, so a Star is Born will be an Academy-Award winning movie.

A Star is Born ⭐
