not in US .... Taylor got B200 year end with a flop like Rep .....let's see if Gaga will do the same then ...

Rep is 4x PLAT in US  ....

LWUMMD is 6x PLAT in US .....

Even with her decline she's still bigger than Bey / Rihanna / Gaga / Katy /   every other female artist in US except Adele  ...

THAT DOESN'T TAKE ANYTHING AWAY FROM GAGA !

Rep is 3x Platinum ins the US and LWYMMD is 4x Platinum

This wasn't about Gaga but about the fact that Taylor pandered to young audiences that left her during the Reputation era so she had to release a damage control single (Delicate) that pandered to older audiences so Reputation won't fall even harder. I talked about how that method of cultivating a young fanbase is dangerous and Gaga should avoid that. I never talked down to Taylor.

I talked about how the Reputation era sank more and more with each new single. She had a great starting point off 1989 but she completely blew it. Nobody expected another 1989 but at least another Red or Fearless should be expected but she didn't even achieve that. A successful tour might sound good but never forget that Justin Timberlake's Man Of The Woods Tour already outsold Joanne, an album which was less successful than Joanne. Or even better: Madonnas Rebel Heart Tour which outsells the Joanne Tour 2:1 but the album was a failure in every sense of the word.

What my point is:

- Reputation damaged Taylors career and she hit a huge slump because of it and will probably never be able to reach new hights

- successful tours don't equate successful albums

Fearless - DIAMOND in US

Red - 7x PLAT

Fearless is bigger than even TFM in US and you want her to recreate an era like that again in today's climate ?!

She is held to ungodly high standards because she never had an album less than 6 x PLAT in US ...and now that she has a 3xPLAT because the sales bombed everybody drags her and say she flopped exactly like they did with Gaga in 2013 ...

To sad that everything she did after Ray Of Light was pretty terrible (Music, American Life, Hard Candy, MDNA and Rebel Heart are all so bad. You should also skip Erotica if you don't like oral sex lyrics set to lullabies)

I've played it safe for now: I'm still enjoying Confessions and Ray of Light a little bit more before going on with my Madge discovery :staymad:

As for Erotica, if the overall sound will be intriguing enough, I won't pay too much attention to the lyrics :ohwell: (yeah, I'm probably too positive...)

Sorry I meant Speak Now instead of Fearless. I always get those two confused :laughga: Also Speak Now is 6x Platinum. And like I said: It's about the progression of the eras. When every single is doing worse and worse something is very wrong.

Just watched P!nk's Brit Performance. She is one of today's best female live performers next to Gaga and Beyoncé.  My holy trinity. Curious how her new album will sound and if it will slay the charts.....

the delusiooooonnnnnn jumped out, laid eggs and multiplied. there is nothing wrong the girl has been breaking records left and right. Yes its less than some of her past eras in some metrics but its still successful.

it's not really something worng because with streaming the concept of ''single '' lost it's meaning after the drop of the album ...when you can listen to the whole album almost for free what it's the purpous of a single ....today album cicles are so short and forgettable just look at Ariana how she pops an album every 6 months .

Now the best rout is to just surprise drop your album and have the same week a song that debuts in top 10 and sent it to radio ....

That's how today music climate is ....smash hit albums like Scorpion who had enormous record breaking streams is only at  3 mil in US ( i think ) sooo on par with REP ....a single to reach DIAMOND today is easier that it was 10 years ago but an album reaching DIAMOND is almost impossible ...it would need 11.5 billion on demand streams (not views ) just from US  .....DIVIDE the most streamed album is at 6.5 billion Spotify streams WW .!!!

This is the same that people said after BTW. "It wasn't TFM but it was still successful" look what happened next with ARTPOP. Look at Katys Prism: "It wasnt Teenage Dream but it Still had two Diamond singles" then Witness.

Reputation sunk Taylors Reputation, literally, and you will see how right I am when her new era starts. If the album would've been actually successful she wouldn't have needed to release Delicate, pander to adult audiences and had a sleeper hit. Taylor has still enough clout so she can tun things around but there's a reason why the Grammy's totally snubbed Taylor this year.

That’s what I was thinking, something in the vein of what you described or “Make Me Feel” by Janelle Monáe.

And yes, something like frozen would be fantastic. A single that can benefit from the younger and older audience .

make me feel is a good song but a bit too yuppie.

I want icy-cold, divine-Ga. There was always something off-putting in her aura before Joanne, manifested in not trying to be conventionally cool. she is not lorde or robyn. make me feel feels small for her. i will stick to "frozen" but i hear what you are saying.

i remember when "frozen" came out everyone was into the song; even my heavy-metal fans were into it. it made madonna cool again. she also came back with a huge narrative, her kabala journey, which made everything more exciting and real. the song was experimental, yet at the same time it felt big, instead of being really inward for most of 90's singles of madonna. it had best of all words. and the album also was astonishing, for sure.

You're stating some facts but then the reasoning behind your conclusions is just flawed.

Yeah, we will see when her next era starts. But til then you're no fortune teller and - stay pressed - the girl has been ultra successful with her Reputation era

You don't even want to mention that your certifications of Rep and LWYMMD were false? ok.

Drake was never someone that sold albums that well. Ariana used TUN for spin control that was so successful that the label pushed her to capitalize on that immediately (my theory at least) because Sweetener, the album before, had a very conservative album roll-out.

The surprise album tactic is still not a very common one. Only very few people actually do it that way. You're right by saying that singles aren't as as important anymore but they still are there. There are a few year defining smashes and the rest of the charts are just trying o land on the year end list. Despite that albums still need singles to advertise them which is why only very few artist can actually do the surprise album tactic because not a lot of artists have enough clout to do that.
