Katy always relied on the GP rather than building a fanbase. Gaga may have a fanbase with a big part consisting of an older demographic and soccer moms but at least they are very loyal. I have the feeling that the younger demographic have a lot of power to make artists happen but they are also very trend-hopping and popular-driven and will drop an artist like a hot potatoe as soon as someone cooler and younger is rising to Fame who will replace the 'older' artist faster than you can say Ferrari. I think this will be the reason why Gaga will stay relevant for a longer period of time than some of her peers who primarily relied on the young GP.
