Twitter 14
I don’t think this is worth a meltdown. Most of the song is filled with instrumental so its like cutting the extra sound out.
Rat Boy 43,561
It will be the first time we get a professionally filmed performance from LG and Bradley Cooper. Loads of people want that - hence why the video of them at Enigma went viral. We don't want a butchered version of the song. Just because you're bored with the song that doesn't mean everyone else is. "****ing rat" - @Dynamite
yxi 4,999
The GP loved ASIB and they are as thirsty as we are to see BradGa performing together. So they better not ruin this moment. They can add 2 or 3 minutes to their show. And I don't care about the charts, I just want a great performance that I can watch again and again for years to come. StarstruckIllusion 52,754
Your points just invalidated TV show performances in their entirety
Gracious Gaga 17,163
1 hour ago, Aquarius said: these are the oscars, not the grammys or any other music award show, the main focus should be on the films themselves & not the music. you guys are just greedy for gaga performances & it shows. gaga & bradley will perform together regardless anyways. 90 seconds is enough for the GP to go crazy over how 'they're totally in love' & sh!t. THANK YOU. Well said my friend well said. ♥ Kindness Police.
dynamite 59,335
It's because people want a live televised performance of the song that does it justice in its entirety. 90 seconds is so short that by the time you're into it, it's over. It seems kind of pointless and the song deserves a proper showcase. I like to feel satisfied when I listen to music not "wait that's it". Knowing the song and knowing she can sing means nothing. Harris Walz 2024 1,451
My problem is that this big ass bloated 3+ hour snoozefest can't find an extra 10 to 15 minutes to give to music, which is an integral part of motion pictures as is dialogue. ssslyboy 3,273
I think the 90 second thing is a good idea. It will leave people wanting to hear the full song and they'll all rush to itunes to download it and call up their local radio stations and request it. It will definitely be #1 on Hot 100. Gagaplayer315 14,036
Because the Oscars are basically the end of the ASIB era and some of us wanted to have an iconic performance of Shallow to close it. What's not clicking?
Wet Fire 7,506
We all know Shallow would stand out even with a 30 sec performance of only the wail and the chorus. So I'm ok with it.
S0436 10,215
I think Bradley will be relieved as he probably doesn’t enjoy singing on stage anymore
shoful 13,304
I moreso think it was rude of her honestly. Its very manipulative. Its like blackmailing your boss to get what you want. If I was the Academy I would’ve just cancelled her performance to show her. Id find it less rude if it were the grammys since shes won many and been nominated and performed. But she is new to the Oscars (besides TIHTY) and I think its rude for her to assume that audacity "My name is Dita, I'll be your Mistress tonight..." ferretti 5,808
The Oscars can be very boring and very long sometimes. It needs excitement to keep it chugging along. Performances are some of the highlights each and every year. A song like ‘Shallow’ in particular is such a popular song that will excite so many people and keep them glued to their TVs. These are not the things the Acadmey should be ditching. Additionally, part of what makes the Oscars special is that every award is given out in the broadcast (another issue this year) and usually everyone gets to perform. It’s honoring the greatest achievements of the year and that’s important. Lastly, shortening any song to just 90 seconds cheapens the song and therefore the performance. Abbreviated performances are almost never memorable or exciting - regardless of the show. If you’re going to have performances, do the full thing or most of it. The briefer performances at the Grammys are almost always forgotten and ignored. disco stick tester, inquire within
GypsyBabe 22,836
It was really nice of her for demanding the opportunity for the other artists to perform. I think people are upset because with the exception of that one night at Enigma, this will most likely be the only dual performance of this song that is properly televised/filmed. It is coming from disappointment. I’m not having a meltdown by any means, but I would be lying if I said that I wasn’t bummed about not getting a full “Shallow” performance with Gaga and Bradley on that stage. Now that the Oscars is a performance bust, and the BAFTAs are gonna snub, Gaga and Bradley should say “f*ck em” and perform it in FULL at the Grammy’s. ⚯͛
