Okay we stan. This is what pop music needs rn.

More "singers" trying to hide their lack of vocal skill/ability by mumbling their way through lifeless songs glamourizing suicide/mental illness in a forced indie/alternative voice?

I have to disagree lol.

Spoiler

I respect her right to express herself as an artist, but mainstream pop music really does not need these sort of messages being promoted to vulnerable teenagers.

Not saying we need more songs with this message but Billie's style is what I feel pop music needs. The song could've been tragic but the video itself is enough for me to keep watching.

And vulnerable teenagers see things regarding suicide everyday. 13rw is one of Netflix's biggest shows. If Billie is feeling some kind of way in her life and wants to share that through her music, then that's fantastic. That's exactly what pop music needs. Honest artist.

I’ll have to agree to disagree here.

She doesn’t lack in vocal ability, you’d know that if you heard some of her live stuff. She doesn’t have that much of a vocal range, if any if we have to be honest, but the fact you can’t reach the higher notes doesn’t mean you can’t sing. The “mumbling” effect is just her being conscious of her own voice and trying to use it in the smartest way possible. There are bigger singers out there that perfect their voices in the studio, trying so desperately to reach that high note so they can say they can sing, and then they’re unbearable when they try to sing that live.

As for the suicide/mental illness topics, y’ll should just stop. It’s not glamour and it’s not threatening for the “vulnerable teenagers”. Talking about how much money you have, how many bitches you fck and giving a false and self-centered depiction of what a strong personality really is, is what’s threatening for the younger generations. I really don’t think that some 12-year-old is going to hear the “I wanna end me” line and will feel like suicide is an option or something that’s cool, or will even take is seriously and literally. That’s just ridiculous, in my opinion. She’s just weird and has a fantasy-like type of thought-process, however dark that might be at times. I don’t feel like it’s forced, but even if it was, she’s still making better songs than most of the pop girls out there.

But yeah, I would want her to go pop either. Music not the bling.
