It's not all about being #1... it's about the impact... BR wasn't #1 at the hot100 but it had a big impact... Pokerface  is a classic song from late 2000's... I love 7 rings but I don't think it will have any impact in music, it won't be remembered.

Maybe her team realized that this album has the potential to spawn one or more number ones singles so they could try to do it. The market is very different than it was during Teenage Dream’s success and  Ariana seems like the current queen of streaming so it all depends on what they plan to do. If the next singles become viral thanks to a great and/or memorable music videos then yes. Teenagers dominate streaming services today so if they want to achieve that, they really have to target their audience.

I honestly could only see one more song going #1 if they really push it or they have another “Breathin’” but the album is about to be released and those who buy it will probably not buy the 3rd single again.

Idk music is different now. Ya the numbers might be huge, but there is no impact or movement associated with any of her work or really any of the new pop girls work. They just kinda release singles and albums and that’s it, there’s no influence or lasting cultural impact.

Are you trying to say Thank U Next has had no cultural impact because I can't seem to escape people referencing it in real life or online.  :triggered:

I think Ari is MILES ahead of Katy, talent-wise, but no. TD was pop perfection. As much as I dislike Katy and love Ari, these are just facts.

I guess you're right it has an impact in pop culture, I just don't think it sounds unique. Also I don't think the impact will be long lasting. I could be wrong tho and only time will tell

I guess nobody wants this major exposure anymore.. cause once u achieve it, the only option after is to fall. So I guess there will be 2 more singles at the most.

Katy Perrys Teenage Dream era was a massive moment in pop music. This was mainly because it produced five number ones (Six if you include Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection.), and a total six top three hits (Eight if you include Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection.). Ariana Grandes current era (Which technically is the "second half" of the Sweetener era.) has just spawned two very strong number one hits. With her current reputation in the public eye, there are definitely more to come. Is it possible that this could be Ariana Grandes Teenage Dream era? Discuss.

After reading some replies I agree a lot with how the cultural impact of this so far compares to Teenage Dream. I personally believe that thank u, next (The song.) will be remembered well, but 7 rings, not so much.

Content doesn't have the value to justify the price.

She's slaying hard right now but people are still listening to TD songs while thank you, next had amazing start and now it's supported by payola and free streams.

People buy things they value because they want to keep it.
