The Fame - 23

Perfect soundtrack before going to parties. Big admirer, not a true fan yet.

The Fame Monster - 24 Still my fav. Dance in the dark spoke to me and the sound of the whole record reminded me of the 90s pop and house music I grew up on like Leila K, Magic Affair, Ace of Bace, 2 brothers on the 4th floor etc.

Born This Way - 26

Took me back to my childhood with lyrics of songs like BTW, Hair and Bad Kids. Reminds me of growing up with 80's powerballads blasting, the rock infused pop with strong female vocals and the mystery that still surrounded artists at that time. Reminds me of wanting to enter a lipsync contest doing Tina Turner or Cyndi Lauper and having no idea what they looked like before mom took me to the CD store to look at their album covers.

ARTPOP - 28 Never completely fullfilled my longing for Gaga to release a completely experimental creative out of the box conceptual album. Do love it a lot. Does remind me of the tough times she went through and how I used to worry about her quite a bit. Not a fun time in my own life either.

Cheek to Cheek - 29 Like a ray of light. Love the pure joy and musicality and friendship of this album. It's like a cozy blanket and it revoked my love for jazz.

Joanne - 31 This became the soundtrack to my day to day life. I didn't even play it that often because the songs were stuck in my head all the time.

A Star is Born - 33 Saw the film in the theatre 5 times and didn't really want to listen to the music again till I saw the movie again, it made me look forward to seeing the film again more so I could hear the songs again. Silly I know. Makes me happy people embraced this music so much that she's actually charting again.

Now that I think about it, I can tell Gaga and I are only a year apart. She seems to grow and flow with me in a way and her childhood and teenage influences really speak to me too.

Same! :excited:

(I even saw ASIB the same number of times!)

I´m two years younger at all albums than you but i saw the movie 5 times in cinemas as well.

was born one year after gaga herself and i think i can relate through that in certain ways to her. for example when she talked about how popmusic felt when she was a teenager and how we lost that superstardom over the years until she brought it back in a certain way. or it was around the same time as he when i started to reflect on my time at school and the bullying that happened to me and how i had to relive that in a way to find inner peace with it. and how it still affects me in certain ways.

it was also around the same time in my life when i realized that some expieriences with adults i had when i was a young adult were not normal and not - like i thought - "what adults do". for a long time i thought that i´m the one to blame myself that certain things happened. that the way i dressed as a 17 year old or that i flirted to some degree with men would make my "no" to certrain sexual action less valuable or that diagreeing to sex is okay. i said no, i begged to stop but i let it happen - for a long time i thought that he was right because i didnt screamed for help or got physical. and it was not okay. now i know that. same as getting drugged.

another thing is my relationship to my family changed totally when i got older. i can see that it did for gaga as well.

when she talks about that she is a woman now and wants to become a mother. i can relate to that even tho i dont share her feelings. everyone of my same aged friends is settlein down and become a parent. of course it was something i thought about recently a lot and very different than 5 years ago but i know i dont want that for myself.

and i remember her talking about how her relationship to herself changed and how she got rid of a lot of insecurities and felt sexier than ever when she was in her late 20ies... i had that too around that time.

After seeing some of the ages, I wonder if this is how people access GGD from their cribs:  :giggle:

The Fame: I was 9 and l liked her (I mean I was kinda a casual fan, because I was still little and only knew the singles)

The Fame Monster: I was 10 and I became a monster during this era. I remember that I used to watch her videos on youtube with my cousins all the time, I also bought my first gaga album (it wasn't an official one tho :v) but I got the monster ball dvd later during christmas

Born This Way: I was almost 12 and I think this one was special because there was so much going on during the era and I was there since the beginning. I remember watching with my mom the Grammys and being so excited because she came in the egg and was going to sing the new lead single, it was all so unique and amazing. I also remember when she dropped the judas mv on e news (I was watching it) and she went to Mexico for the first time, than the VMAs and the EMAs in Belfast (when she performed marry the night), then when she announced the tour and dates and I finally got to see her live in Germany (which was obviously the best part and memory from the era)... I think a lot happened during this one, I got my first official gaga album (born this way the collection) not to mention when she cancelled the tour and the fame perfume (which I bought for my mom)

ARTPOP: I was 14 and since this is my favorite gaga album it has many memories attached to it, I mean, even after all the problems it was a special era.. the pre era was so exciting (when she deleted everything), then the release and announcement, the tour (which I wanted to see but couldn't :´v) and the yahoo livestream.. AND NOT TO FORGET HOW EXCITING THE ITUNES FESTIVAL WAS, I THINK THAT WAS AMAZING

C2C: I was 15 and even If I didn't like jazz that much, I enjoyed the album and era and the great vocals, I loved bang bang and I learned the lyrics to most of the songs

Joanne: I was 17 when this one came out and it was all so different and enigmatic, I remember the pain of the wait and the mystery of the single announcement, when perfect illusion premiered on the radio and I heard it on the car through a livestream, I loved the album even though its so different, I think it had the best tour and I really wanted to see her but I couldn't because she cancelled it, we got the Super Bowl which was also an unique experience that I lived with my family (we threw a party), the dive bars were also great and five foot two was awesome, not to forget how happy I was that John Wayne got a music video, she performed at so many great places and did Coachella..

Now I realized that when you look back there are so many memories that its just too hard to write or resume them

EDIT: I forgot about A Star Is Born :emma:

ASIB: I´m 19 now and to keep things short it was great to see gaga getting that recognition back and so much praise, I loved the movie and went to see it twice with my family and friends and the soundtrack is amazing

Lady Palutena

Oh gee... can I even remember that far..?

The Fame: I was 18 when that was released but I didn't discover Gaga until the summer of 2009. Thought Just Dance and Poker Face were such amazing songs, looked her up online, loved her personality and her performances. First album I ever bought with my own money. Moderate stan.

The Fame Monster: I was 19. I didn't know about the EP until 2010. I liked Bad Romance, identified with it after Gaga said it was about "being in love with your best friend". Album has not stood the test of time for me. My least listened to album. Still a moderate stan.

Born This Way: I was 20. Album solidified me as a Major stan, prompted me to join this site. Didn't like the rock-pop influences all that much in the beginning, grew on me over time. Found her interviews very engaging and fun to watch. Judas was my favorite video, still is. Not listened to in a while.

ARTPOP (Winner): 23. College for General Educational Development. (Didn't finish) Remember watching the iTunes festival and loving ARTPOP, Sex Dreams, and Swine. Bought ARTPOP as soon as it was released. I was disappointed in the final mixes of the songs, though. Loved the seashell girl visuals and the Applause video blew me away, G.U.Y. was amazing as well. ARTPOP was my theme song. Album not listened to in a while, but overall my favorite of them.

C2C: I was 24. I didn't really listen to the album all that much. Jazz was never my favorite genre. I loved her performance on "But Beautiful" and "Bang! Bang! My Baby Shot Me Down" but that was about it.

Joanne: 26. Hated "Perfect Illusion" in the beginning, grew on me over time. Didn't care for "Million Reasons". Liked A few of songs on the album "John Wayne", "Dancin' in Circles", "Hey Girl", and "Sinner's Prayer". Wasn't a really big fan of the Americana-Pop influences but it was overall not the worst. Haven't listened to it in a few years.

A Star Is Born: I am now 28. (WARNING: very unpopular opinion) I am unimpressed with all of her solo songs amd duets except "I'll Never Love Again (Extended Version)" and even then, it's not by much. I am happy that she did acting, and she is happy, and was rewarded for her risk (most musicians are terrible actors/actresses), but the direction of the soundtrack's sound was not my cup of tea.

I want to reiterate that I do love Gaga but as of... uh... it's been a few years now, but I have been into a select few J-Pop artists, hsven't listened to much else. Also, I am a fan of Gaga still but I don't know if I would say I am a stan. And like I said, the musical direction of A Star Is Born is not my cup of tea. But I still love Gaga and look forward to the next album.

Widows Kiss

TF: 8

Poker Face was huge... like IWALY/MHWGO type of huge. Paparazzi was also very big, LoveGame was a hit but Just Dance kinda fell flat. I remember hearing all of them on the radio though.

TFM: 9 (fave)

Bad Romance was very big, I can't really remember Telephone though. Alejandro felt much bigger as radio spammed it.

BTW: 11

I remember only BTW and TEOG from this era, everything else didn't really connect.

ARTPOP: 13

Well, she had Applause but after that she was nowhere to be seen.

C2C: 14

Joanne: 16

ASIB: 18

The Fame - 9 years old, my third of year of primary school

The Fame Monster -  10 years old, my last year of primary school

Born This Way - 12 years old, my second year of gimnasium

ARTPOP - 14 years old; my last year of gimnasium

Cheek to Cheek - 15 years old; my first year of highschool

Joanne - 17 years old; my third year of highschool

A Star Is Born - 19 years old; my first year of university

For the record, 2016 is the year I became a fan.

The second half of Joanne era was the peak of my fandom (especially the summer of 2017).

My album ranking: Born This Way, ARTPOP, The Fame Monster > A Star Is Born > The Fame, Joanne > Cheek to Cheek

misunderstood

TF: 9 (but I heard it when I was 10, purchased Just Dance in late 2008 though)

(Winner) TFM: 10 - I remember playing a Spongebob game on my PS2 and listening to the album snippets, then eventually the album when it came out.

BTW: 12 - I still remember when it leaked and I pulled an all-nighter

ARTPOP: 14 - Really helped me throughout my freshman year of high school, Swine was my coming out song (I related to the rage aspect of the song).

C2C: 15 - I've only heard the album once, (the day it came out). Haven't listened since. Don't really care for it.

Joanne: 17 - I'd listen to songs from it here and there but it's the only Gaga album I don't go back to much.

ASIB: 19 - Love the pop songs the most if I'm being honest. Some of my favorite Gaga ballads are on this album. The ballads are what I wanted the ballads on Joanne to sound like. I'll Never Love Again, Is That Alright, Always Remember Us This Way, Before I Cry are some of her best songs (Even tho it's Ally)
