Doubt he would be able to hire experienced democratic staff running as independent. He would take a few percent of votes, causing the Republican to win. He would still be running as a Democrat and Democrat voters want a progressive. He is a centrist pretty much but he will be attacked by progressives over many issues and that will divide the Democratic vote. He also says he's "in favor of universalizing healthcare" That's a progressive take. But he also takes a lot of money from the oil industry. #2 in the whole Congress actually. And he's also for increasing punishments for crime which we know will impact some communities and drug users more than others instead of helping rehabilitate. So yeah, he will not be liked at all by the progressives and we'll end up with a "slightly more relatable Hillary Clinton" situation. On healthcare: “Every American deserves the right to have access to quality health care,” Schultz told “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley. “But what the Democrats are proposing is something that is as false as the wall ― and that is free health care for all, which the country cannot afford.” Huh? He isn’t a member of Congress. On the Democratic Party: "It concerns me that so many voices within the Democratic Party are going so far to the left. I say to myself, 'How are we going to pay for these things,' in terms of things like single payer (and) people espousing the fact that the government is going to give everyone a job." On Entitlements: Schultz went on to say that the greatest threat domestically to the country is "this $21 trillion debt hanging over the cloud of America and future generations. The only way we're going to get out of that is we've got to grow the economy, in my view, 4% or greater. And then we have to go after entitlements."
