Who was expecting an underwhelming mess? :air: I was expecting to be slayed the house down boots. And I seriously disagree with the "it's new for Vegas" shtick, has no one seen Céline's Cirque du Soleil style show? It's literally the highest grossing Vegas residency of all time :awkney: I highly recomend you seeing the trailer for that and check your opinions :smh:

Well from what I saw not everybody had high expectations. I am familiar with that show, having seen Celine, so don't really need the recommendation thanks. I didn't say Enigma is new for Vegas, I said that for Vegas, Enigma is more than ambitious and big enough. Even if Celine has amazing production, the comparison is moot because standards will always be higher for Gaga in that regard, and it was also one of the aspects that was hyped up when the show was first announced

As someone that went to both, I went into it thinking Enigma looked tacky from pics and videos I’ve seen online, but was REALLLLY impressed by her energy, the production etc.

The jazz show however, blew me away. I love hearing her voice & her piano moments, so I def preferred it.

I loved how there are both of these shows because they’re soooo insanely impressive & soooo wildly different. She is legendary ❤️

The biggest difference between the shows is how passionate she is about jazz and music in general in J&P. It's amazing to watch :flutter:

Well what if current Enigma is just a placeholder until lg6 arrives?

Enigma is 10/10 and showcases her talent as well. Just, in a different way.

But are you honestly saying Gaga did everything she could to fulfill that hype? :diane: Did she really blow us away like we know she can? I don't know... I get your point of view but I really don't understand that "for Vegas it's good enough" narrative. I don't want a show to be "good enough" for some specific location, I just want it to be great :ohwell:

Gaga is first and foremost a jazz artist.  While she's known as a pop star and made a living from pop, she sang jazz before pop, stops in a jazz clubs throughout her career to sing jazz, sang jazz at the Thanksgiving special and the Muppets show, and did a Sinatra tribute.  The same evening she did a concert at Fenway, she went to the House Of Blues to sing jazz.  I doubt she will ever give up pop, but it is not surprising that her jazz shows shine.

I live outside the space time continuum.

Both shows are fantastic and it's an amazing testament of her talents that she can go from one type show to the complete opposite overnight seamlessly.

To me, she feels more in her element playing jazz and piano but that's not shade toward ENIGMA. The truth is, there isnt anything this woman can't do. And she doesnt just DO it, she slays, kills and OWNS it.

Controversially enough, I think she did. The Vegas argument is important because it is definitely a limitation for everybody who performs there. You can only do so much, but imo she managed to work around around it in a way that I thought was very her. The show feels 100% Gaga, and it was definitely miles better than the artRAVE.

Gaga will never blow me away like she did at the Monster Ball, but I was at Enigma for the first three shows and it was amazing, though i’m not a blind stan and I know some things are messy. First time I saw her since C2C in 2015 (my JWT was cancelled twice) and it really took me back to the good old days. But whatever, people will continue to trash it by looking at 60 second Instagram vids and not having any idea what it’s like when you’re there :lolly:

I don't necessarily think Enigma is bad, but I do want to point out:

Gaga has proven time and time again that she does not need a lot of production to create nearly universally praised performances. Just look at Jazz & Piano. She has also proven many that she know how to put on elaborate, critically acclaimed shows.

Yet with Enigma, she has tons of production value at her fingertips to enhance the experience, and still the reactions are very mixed. Which means there's a disconnect somewhere. And I think it's fair to acknowledge that.

People can say that it's overly negative to nitpick "why" Enigma isn't as popular within the fanbase. But for me personally I find it fascinating to disect an "issue" like this :ohwell:

The interesting thing about this is that there are many Gaga shows and performances that are more universally loved than Enigma, while at the same time having a much smaller production. Gaga usually has the ability to turn a tiny prop into a moment that is cherished by fans. Which, in my opinion, nullifies the fact that Las Vegas theaters "limit" the size or possibilities of a show.

Just look at things like Swinefest, Roseland, The Fame Ball or even either versions of The Monster Ball to see how much impact Gaga can make with productions that are smaller than Enigma. And even a lot of renowned award show performaces fall within that range in terms of production value. It's not the size of the production, but the poignancy with which it is created.

Guys. You all have to agree that current state of Enigma is a bit lazy with Gaga's standards in mind. I do like it, but  like I didn't scream the way I did on her previous shows. (which I did for all of them, like JWT as well)

I'm a pop Stan. If I could decide what LG6 will be, I'd make it dance pop. BUT, I'd rather see Jazz&Piano than ENIGMA. ENIGMA's pretty great, and I only know like 3 songs from J&P, but it looks really fun and entertaining.
