Can someone explain to me why OST of A Star is Born isn't nominated for Best original score? Is it because of rose?

Original score is what composer writes. There's no composer for the movie

I feel like ASIB has redefined her as an artist. I never expected this type of success - congratulations to her and the ASIB team on all the praise, nominations and awards they've earned so deservedly. I'm stunned she's an Oscar nominated actress - she's unbelievable/ridiculously talented and deserves every ounce of praise and success she's getting for her work. Even if she doesn't win the award, she's absolutely won!

I was a little disappointed the Academy snubbed Bradley Cooper for his directing - throwback to Ben Affleck snubbed for 'Argo' all those years ago. Was happy to see the actresses in Roma garner a couple of nominations; I can't see Roma losing Best Picture. Chuffed to see Sam Elliot finally receive an acting nomination - meh that Ali will end up winning Supporting Actor (baffles me how he, so early in his career, will already have 2 Oscars when actors like Amy Adams, Glenn Close etc. have 0).

Predictions:

Best Picture: Roma (would not be surprised if Green Book is read out, though)

Best Director: Alfonso Cuaron

Best Actor: Christian Bale, Vice (wouldn't be surprised if Malek wins it for that mediocre as film)

Best Actress: Glenn Close, The Wife (I'd love to see Gaga or Coleman win it, but Close absolutely deserves it and it'll be such a joy seeing her rewarded!)

Best Supporting Actor: Mahershala Ali, Green Book (will never understand why - Elliot or Grant should be winners here).

Best Supporting Actress: Regina King, If Beale Street Could Talk (I love Amy Adams, but Regina's performance is deserving. Adams will get her Oscar - I just don't think she'll get it for this particular role).

Btw “Give Gaga the Oscar” is a stupid headline. Why should anyone be just given the Oscar? A better one would be “Gaga Deserves the Oscar”

best score is for the orchestral accompaniment. there is no award for song scores (though it has existed in the past at different times, there usually aren’t enough film musicals to warrant such an award)

The SAGs this Sunday will either boost my confidence that LG can pull it off next month or just annihilate the last shred of hope I have. I'm still not convinced GC will win this, wishful thinking I guess.... I want my Kween to win it so bad, she was so Amazing!

and this is the exact reason why, even if gaga wins, the best actress oscar is worthless this year. the fact that they didn't even acknowledge her role is beyond me. we all love gaga blablablabbitybla, toni ****ING POURED LAST BITS OF EMOTIONS into this role, and it baffles me how nobody even cares because we have a huge superstar that's winning the gp back only to be ridiculed and crushed by everyone in a few years, again.

The academy hardly ever looks beyond the types of films that normally get nominated.

I remember when Melissa McCarthy got a nom for Bridesmaids, but those types of roles never get nods. However, I think with the new voter base we’ll be seeing a change. Just look at Black Panther getting in BP.
