If only Cardi was raised in a rich neighbourhood and learned how to speak like a learned, sophisticated young woman! Then maybe we would allow her to speak on politics - but this glorified uncouth, crude, subaltern? Why should she be allowed to have a voice or opinion on how the country is run? How about not shaming people who were raised without the same access to quality education and opportunity? Especially when you spell 'nonsense' as 'nonesese'. You do realize that I know how to spell nonsense, right? It's a typo, not a spelling mistake. Let's assume that I made it intentionally just to show you how weak your argumentation is. Shows how delusional your statement is... Cardi B's money was a great song and an amazing music video. Go on hate on Cardi when she does something stupid, when she is using her platform to talk about current issues appreciate it. Cause many celebs out here prefer to keep their mouths shut. 1) Just because 99 percent of this forum is far-left/left/left-leaning doesn't mean that my statement is delusional per se. 2) I didn't mention the quality of the song (which I still think is absolutely atrocious). I mentioned its underwhelming commercial performance, and how it's correlated to her recent foray into politic. 3) The fact that you are a celebrity doesn't mean that you should be a mouthpiece of the Democratic party. You had a field day when Glenn Beck booted her, but she got a gig at Fox, and now her media career is thriving. Cardi's career is already in the doldrums after the Money disaster, and she's trying to stay relevant by making outlandish political statements that make her look like a fool by anyone with more than two brain cells. And, please, stop with this 'RELATABLE' nonesese. It's just her grammar. I'm not a fan of Nicki, but at least she's smart/educated. Can't same the same about the other. Cardi B is the last person who should voice her political opinions. MAGA supporter ALERT 🚨🚨🚨 Does it matter? Damage is done

I am very aware it was a spelling mistake, but how very transparent of you to pretend my argument hinged on whether or not you know how to spell nonsense rather than how classist, elitist and problematic it is (putting aside the racial and gendered aspects that others have mentioned) to criticise a woman from speaking on politics because she comes from a lower socio-economic class. She doesn't speak like a sophisticated intellectual, she's still allowed to express frustration at the government and express her support for the 800,000 US government workers who are currently going without pay. I also just happen to think it's a good idea to proof-read before criticising somebody on their grammar.

Cardi B didn't boast about her English skills either - she expressed her discontent about the fact federal government workers are currently not getting paid for their work because the president is having a tantrum about a wall the majority of U.S citizens don't want. Whether you agree with her politically or not - you implied that Cardi should avoid making political statements because of her grammar and level of education. Can't really blame people for jumping on your back for your mistakes when your entire premise was centred around how, since Cardi wasn't as eloquent as some and since her grammar needed work, she shouldn't speak about politics. Thanks for serving as an in-built Grammarly app for my phone (I really appreciate that). However, I don't think that you are qualified enough to make any corrections given that boast can perform the function of both transitive and intransitive verb. LDOCE: The city boasts two excellent museums. (https://www.ldoceonline.com/dictionary/boast). Now that's embarrassing! Again, your post is off-topic and deserves a WP given that the initial conversation was about Tomi and Cardi, not about me. Phone typos != blatant A2 level mistakes. I'm not insecure enough to proof-read my every post on a pop music forum just to make sure that GGD haters won't enjoy their cute gotcha moment. FYI, English is my third language. Cardi's inability to form coherent sentences is inexcusable, but people give her a free pass, trying to sugarcoat it as 'cool' and 'relatable.' We should appreciate and reward excellence, not ignorance. I don't even want to go deeper and claim that Cardi is basically threatening Tomi with psychical violence (and she's has a record of physical violence against Nicki), but people still turn a blind eye on this. Luckily, her downfall is already happening.

Luckily, her downfall is already happening. I’d argue the point on your grammar, however unlike you - I’m on the side of ‘it doesn’t and shouldn’t matter’. So I don’t see the point. I don’t see that the conversation has gone off topic 🤷🏻♂️ I’m glad you have had the opportunity to learn multiple languages and obtain a great education - your English is good. It doesn’t, however, give you more or less of a right to belittle those who have had access to a lesser standard of education and shame them into silence. Cardi is simply acting as an engaged citizen which is something we all should do. Your standards concerning who should engage in political conversation are elitist and arbitrary - you clearly, and understandably, don’t like the assumption that your English skills should disqualify you from expressing your opinions. I don’t think they should - but it’s also a little pathetic to act as if you’re being reasonable by criticising Cardi while getting so defensive and bothered when people apply a higher standard of your own position to you. If you believe we need a certain standard of education and literacy to speak on politics - Why should we give you a pass and not Cardi?
